You don't need to worry how to collect the information about wines in Bordeaux. Not only the city of Bordeaux but also each village has the tourist information, and some have also La Maison du Vin(wine information center), where you can find plenty of information about AOC, tours or wine schools for travelers. Furthremore, You will also find bookstores full of wine books.

First of all you must visit it, where is the center of information about winery cruising, as well as sightseeing of Bordeaux. You can get some pamphlets about places of chateaux/domaine and informations of some tours. You can also apply the tours and start your winery cruising bus tour there. Some staffs understand English.

La Maison du Vin
In various Bordeaux wine fairs, have you ever seen the symbol of wine glasses with a bow? This is the symbol of this "La Maison du Vin" in Bordeaux. They offer information of Bordeaux wines through pamphlets, videos and so on, as well as operating a wine school. You can taste and buy some here. Some staffs speak English. You can find the shop on the same square of La Vinotheque, Maison du Vin and the Maison du Tourisme. After passing through a narrow entrance, you will be impressed to see spiral steps up to 5th floor filled with wine bottles, the last one of which on the top floor was Chateau Beychevelle `62(at the time of 97/11).For example, the price for the set of 3 bottles(Ch.d'Yquem`90, Ch.Lafite Rothschild`93 and Ch.Cheval Blanc`93)was FFR.2,676(at the time of 97/11).Although there is no delivery service to overseas, you can bring them into a post office on the opposite side.

L'École du Vin (Tasting school)
Coordinated by Maison du Vin, the school offers various programs spoken in French, German and English and once a year, Japanese (lectured by a Bordeaux-based Japanese sommelier), from one-day seminar to 5weeks(once a week) course. Mainly teaching tasting, they sometimes include wineries cruising. Since the course schedule changes every year, you'd better confirm the schedule in its WWW site before application.
