Three model courses are introduced here. All are based in the city of Bordeaux, and one is for Médoc, one is for St.Émilion and the last is for Sauternes. In all cases, you can enjoy Chateaux and Maison du Vin. (Please also refer to "How to visit wineries", "Useful materials" and "how to collect the information").
*(ex.Margaux*) means : you can find Maison du Vin. At the most Maison du Vin, a neat lavatory is completely equipped.



1.Médoc course

On the route D2 northbound course from the City of Bordeaux, you will enjoy huge vineyards and many chateaux of big names, which you must be familiar with. For a break, Pauillac is suitable for its size and good view like a port town(Actually, the town lies by the river Gironde).

Required time:One day including the visit for 3 chateaux.



2.St.Émilion course

Surrounded by walls, the 8th century-town St.Émilion is small and enough worth sightseeing. After enjoying the town, you can also visit Montagne St.Émilion and Pomerol (if you have time left, add Lussac and Lalande de Pomerol). Different from the road in Médoc, you can enjoy rather small and undulating roads.It is said to be the fashion to go to the central square of St.Émilion to get "macaron"(sweets), the specialty of this area.


St.&Eacutemilion (8k) Route
Bordeaux -->(N89(highway),exit 8 and go to Libourne via N2089, then D670;In total 50km)-->St.Émilion*-->(D122,4km)--> Montagne*-->(D244/D255,10km)-->Pomerol -->(N89(highway))-->Bordeaux
Distances (km) are measured from Esplanade des Quinconces(the central square) , the city of Bordeaux.

Required time:2/3 - 1 day including the visit for 3 chateaux.




3.Sauternes course

You will go to Sauternes and Barsac, where you appreciate some sweet wine, then drop in Graves on the way back to Bordeaux. You can try tasting at the chateaux of Sauternes and Barsac. However, they are not so big that you may feel some obligation to buy a bottle. Please note that You'll have difficulty to find a place for a break (Besides that, you cannot use a lavatory in the Maison du Vin of Sauternes).
