Funeral of Living Heort

Mabinogionic...Thanks for Nick Brooke's Argrath the Stickpicker & King Argrath.

After enthronement of Heort for the former King of Koroltes died, Heort and
Ivarne had to do many things to fulfil their duty and Oath which he made for his Ivarne
(many of his clan men blamed her for she didn't want to marry with
such a great man like him), and eventually he realized he would resolve all of these problems only by
making a Ancient Vingkotling Kingdom again. But he didn't know how to
accomplish such a great work.

He owed both Esrolians and Hidden King Jardfor because he killed their
relatives, two Kings of Orgovaltes and Koroltes.
King Jardfor didn't want to avenge him for he loved
Heort and he was once Just and Noble King, but he was always worried about
his son Kogall going to Mad in Greater Darkness, and their cursed
metamorphoses were tolerated for their effort to kill each other.

Before the Last Royal Betrayal, the father and the son were lineage of
Great King Rastagar, but they knew the hidden secret where other their kinfolk
didn't want to close it, but it was required to sacrifice their own
humanity, maybe it was wise not to dare trying it. Though the half-brother
of Orlanth Cat God advised them not to get involved in his abandoned
relatives, they befriended the Serpentbeast Brotherhood and the Witch,
Drolgard. She taught them about the metamorphoses which Beast Tribe, but
Witch Drolgard didn't explain enough about the risk.

<<Yinkin
Yinkin's earliest life was solitary. He groomed, stalked, explored and
learned to bite before he told anyone his name. Each wife of his was seduced
differently, and each of them bore a different litter, and each of them
waits for him still and are glad when he drops by. When the Beast Wars began
Yinkin was seized by the Serpentbeast Brotherhood, who planned to kill him
because he was part god and part spirit. Orlanth saved his brother, and
asked nothing in return but fraternal duty. After that the Brotherhood
seized Yinkin again and demanded that he choose to follow his father, the
great beast spirit Fralar, but Yinkin was loyal to Orlanth and called for
the Thunderer, who appeared and freed Yinkin again. Finally, as Darkness
fell, the Brotherhood invaded again, trying to seize all of the game animals
to take away. Yinkin fought tooth to tooth and claw to claw with Telmor, and
he kept many creatures alive in Dragon Pass because he and his followers
defeated the Brotherhood. >>

In that trial of Shapechanging, Kogall failed to the stage of leaping and
Predark occupied his hairy and wild dark body in the Pit of Ragnaglar and he
hid in the southern land of Kingdom of Night since that time, Jardfor
succeeded but he also lost his humane body for survival, and his winged body
prefered to increase same beasts like him by distributing his mutation,
and then his many subjects
of eaters of Dead, living in the Boundary of Koroltes.

Ivarne visited him several times for she knew the ancient song of River
Lysos which then only Kodigvari knew, and spoke with him, but Jardfor could not
relent to her intention for he thought his horrible power was required to
kill his unhappy son, he was very sorrowful but he never admitted other men
could kill his son, now howling Monster in the darkness. (Wolf?)

Ivarne fell to sleep magically in the Temple of Ernalda and talked with the
Goddess of Night, she was the mother of Argan Argar, the grandmother of Only
Old One.... Ivarne recalled there was a mystery which disappeared in the
Great Darkness, that was the secret of No Wind. But it was still hidden in
the secret Temple of Old Wind, but she could not remember the location of
it.

She knew she could not convince her clanfolks about her foreseeing and she
used her Loom and knitted her proxy with the help of Night Hug, that was
Great Magic, and anyone of her clanmates didn't realize she who met them
everyday wasn't her long except some. Though the Proxy didn't have shadow,
but it also disliked to close the Fire of Mahome's Fire. Only Heort and their
children realized it was a proxy, still the twin Estavos and Estava were
small children, they cried and Heort only knew what she wanted. He put on
his sword between him and her while he was in bed with the proxy.

Heort mustered local Fyrd and went to South, but he went too fast and
straightforwardly dangerous place, one by one even his most desperately
loyal thanes could not trace his movement and reluctantly went to home, they
thought Heort was dead for he didn't long return. But Proxy of Ivarne
declined such despair as groundless fear.

Heort asked to Dini's Wind, South Wind.
"South Wind, South Wind, did you see my sweet green wife, Ivarne?"
"I saw her, she visited the Only Old One for seeking the location of Hidden
King Kogall for he can only find the way to save his father's spirit, but I
don't know why I lost her."

Only Old One ruled Kethaela at that time, he was good at both Art of
negotiation and intimidation as a grandson of Night. Esrolvuli were
suffered by the Hidden King Kogall but they didn't admit Heortling Authority
any more, Trolls didn't trust Heort though they admitted his power and
influence. They thought Heort was the threat to the Recovery of Kethaela
rather than the help. But kings of Garanvuli & Sedenorvuli tried to help
Heort in the negotiation with the Demigod for they thought they didn't have
enough position under the influence of Trolls.
Heort said,

"I'll prove myself as your friend, if I can, please liberate these two
tribes."
Ezkankekko didn't answer to his suggestion, but he replied the question
about the Hidden King which lurked in Esrolia and ate his subject Esrolians.
"The Woman who visited Kogall and put him sleep with her song said, he
cannot be overcome except the warrior who was under the greater curse than
him."
Ezkankekko was truly such a good negotiator.

Heort already heard about the Cursed Warrior, so he wanted to visit his
friend King Venef by that turn.

Heort mustered local Fyrd and went to North, but he went too fast and
straightforwardly dangerous place, one by one even his most desperately
loyal thanes could not oppose the monsters from Ginijji and reluctantly went
to home, they thought Heort was dead for he didn't long return. But Proxy of
Ivarne declined such despair as groundless fear.

Heort asked to Ohorlanth, North Wind.
"North Wind, North Wind, did you see my sweet green wife, Ivarne?"
"I saw her, she visited your friend's tula, the tula of Berenethtelli, and
she asked about Gordangar because only he could kill Kogall, but I don't
know why I lost her."

Gordangar was a son begat by Adultery (Hela and Hercules?). But his
father's wife was very jealous and powerful Witch and cursed him, through
Blood and Sacred Dart. Such way of things were not unusual in Great
Darkness. He became the Second to None Warrior of Humakt and Orlanth, but his
battle frenzy sometimes struck him uselessly. Even Wisest White Healers
could not calm down him.

Only generous King Venef tolerated to accept Gordangar even he knew his
actions, for the Wise King knew he was blameless...he once killed his
brother and secondly he killed his own wife and children, such was his curse
cast upon by the wife of his father, his madness came to him while he felt
any kind of peace and happiness, he voluntarily chained himself because he
could not trust himself, and wanted to someone to break his curse or commit
suicide if he could not seek such a way.

Heort sympathetically had heard about him from his friend Venef, and while
he visited Berenethtelli Tribal Hall, he met the Warrior, Gordangar said he
would kill the Hidden King if Heort could liberate him from Great Curse.
King Venef said,

"The Woman who visited Gordangar and soothed him sleep with her song said,
his curse cannot be overcome except the Shamaness who could wield the
greater magic than his mother-in-law."

Heort of course knew the name of Fire Witch, but he didn't have any idea to
visit the demigoddess until that time. Because she was too powerful and
wasn't obedient to even the Only Old One, but he determined for he realized
he should do so.

Heort mustered local Fyrd and went to East, but he went too fast and
straightforwardly dangerous place, one by one even his most desperately
loyal thanes could not keep their pace in the Wasteland and reluctantly went
to home, they thought Heort was dead for he didn't long return. But Proxy of
Ivarne declined such despair as groundless fear.

Heort asked to the Bull Wind, East Wind.
"East Wind, East Wind, did you see my sweet green wife, Ivarne?"
"I saw her, she visited the Spider Mountain and met the terrible witch, and
even she enjoyed the song of your year-wife and taught your year-wife what she would
demand if she broke curse, but I don't know why I lost her."

Heort realized there were many troubles between many different races and
tribes even aside from Vingkotling and Praxians, Waha made great pact for remnant beast Tribe,
but some of them, avoided to eat their kin under the Waha's Rule in Wasteland and rather chose
to die than survive by eat their kin. They wanted New Land without any
inhabitants to live which was more fertile than Prax. Heort didn't have any
idea at that time.

When he visited the Spider Mountain and asked her about her help,
Cragspider declined him, because the ambassador of Only Old One was Zorak
Zorani, also visited her and urged her to do so.

"I can break any curse, but I could not find the reason to do so for you.
Your wife's song is not enough for that, I demand you to do mane something
for me what I cannot do." He was at a loss.

But Orlanth didn't abandoned him, for when Zorak Zorani from Kingdom of
Night ambushed him, Heort used the magic which was taught by Hidden King
Jardfor, but his swiftfoot wasn't enough and he was cornered by the
Deathlords.

Bevara helped the Winter Deer which Heort had transformed. She
taught him secret way to the Route to pass the Rockwood Mountain hidden from
anyone except her. She healed him and demanded his help for he owed her by
that rescue, Heort realized much vacant fertile land was existed in the
Northern Slope of Rockwood and agreed her condition if she taught him Secret
Route of Rockwood Mountain by the guidance of Kev, which was hidden from the
power of Darkness, for they always ate the Earth and didn't return anything.

(Later, Heort taught his discovery to his friend, Gonn Orta, and the pass
became his domain, but it is another story.)

<<Javern's clan was desceded from the great ancestor Heort, the founder, who
was as everyone knows, of the Winterdeer Clan. Javern had learned and
experienced how Heort had invented the Winterdeer's Sunset Leap when Kyger
Litor tried to grab it. The Devourer rarely missed such a grab, but
Winterdeer leapt into the setting sun so that the Mother of Terror was
blinded. Many people in the clans descendant from Winterdeer learned this
feat, and they occasionally used it collectively through their wyters to
escape their enemies when they needed to. These clans were known to be
especially dangerous in their evening ambushes, from which they nearly
always could escape even against great odds, by leaping towards the setting
sun. Javern participarted in many ambushes against huge lunar armies like
this, and then escaped into the sunset. >>

In Winter Tribes Domain, there are much trouble with neighborhoods, from
many Elder Races and especially, Horse Nomads (there are no compromise with
them because they have never accepted the Great Compromise!), some of them
tolerated Alien Influence for survival and succeeded temporalily, and
Talastarings were very influential at that time, and offered to Winter
Tribes to join his Kingdom by abandoning their identity of Vingkotling, many
of them considered his offer was good, only few wise men like Venef didn't
trust him.

Heort mustered local Fyrd and went to West, but he went too fast and
straightforwardly dangerous place, one by one even his most desperately
loyal thanes could not oppose the horsespawn raiders and reluctantly went to
home, they thought Heort was dead for he didn't long return. But Proxy of
Ivarne declined such despair as groundless fear.
(Don't forget the Author of this tale was the subject of Yarandros)

Heort asked to Ambroli Wind, West Wind.
"West Wind, West Wind, did you see my sweet green wife, Ivarne?"
"I saw her, she sneaked into the Hall of Talastaring, the Stead of King
Valarastans as a skovari, and she looked for the proof of his treachery, but
I don't know why I lost her."

King Valarastans sought to marry with Bevara, with not out of love and
harmony but out of avarice and ambition. Because she was the successor of
Liornvuli and very powerful priestess of Ernalda, but she didn't trust him,
either and be sure that he secretly allied to Horse nomad, he deceived
Northern Heortlings with sweet lies and wanted to sell them to Horse Nomad
Thrall masters. But there was no proof about such treachery. Bevara took
refuge in the Far East and found the secret path by the guidance of Kev.
Bevara and her friends asked Heort,

"Seek the proof of his treachery and crime to us."

Heort himself sneaked into Valarastans gaudy Banquet as a desemborthi and
looked for the proof. Some elder of Talastarings whispered about the King's
Armband which held a seal for the contract between the Jenarongi Warlord and
their Ambitious King, that they lost when the Berserks from Hellgate
ambushed over the Sky and Jenarongi lost it during the combat.

"But we can have relief for a moment about it." the Elder said, "because
anyone of Heortling could not find it from all over the Glorantha lest they
have Elmal's sharp eyes and his knowledge about sky horses."

But Heort heard all, and went back to his home. Bevara, Venef, Gordangar,
Jardfor and other his companions nearly despaired about it, but Heort
decision wasn't changed.

Heort mustered local Fyrd and went to the foot of Kero Fin and climbed to
the mother of Orlanth and Yinkin, but he went too fast and challenged
straightforwardly dangerous cliff, one by one even his most desperately
loyal thanes could not resist the breathing of Ambroli and Kolating,
reluctantly went to home, they thought Heort was dead for he didn't long
return. But Proxy of Ivarne declined such despair as groundless fear.

While Heort nearly reached to the Top of Mountain, asked to Sky Wind, Upper
Wind studded with many Diamonds.
"Sky Wind, Sky Wind, did you see my sweet green wife, Ivarne?"
"I saw her, Vinga danced with your wife's song and Elmal's smile shone here
after the long time as if here was Karulinoran, and she looked for the proof
of Valarastans treachery, the Armband, but I don't know why I lost her."

When Heort closed to the God and the Goddess, both of them welcomed him as
if he had been one of their family. Heort asked wounded Elmal about the
location of the Armband, Elmal told him that he could easily find it for he
knew where all herds of skyhorse were fed and he could see all over the
world with his keen eyes, but that he could not give anything to his guest without permission
of Kero Fin or her son, Orlanth while he stayed over the Mountain...and he
could not leave there until Orlanth would return. And Elmal was the
stauchest under the law of the Chieftain.

Vinga gave him a key of Obsidian Palace which she stole it from Argan
Argar, for she was the Goddess who guarded her friend Drenyan while Eninta
helped Heort's birth. Heort thanked both of them and returned to the foot of
Kero Fin. Even Andrin suggested him to abandon his plot for Andrin knew
Orlanth wouldn't return to the Surface long even if he succeed in Lightbringer's Quest,
but Heort became staunchest for he had gained the Blessing of Elmal.
He determined to go Hell through Short Cut as Hengall did.

Heort mustered local Fyrd and went to Underworld through Esrolia and
Shadowland, but he went too fast and straightforwardly dangerous place, one
by one even his most desperately loyal thanes could not resist the fear in
the Underworld and its monsters and reluctantly went to home, they thought
Heort was dead for he didn't long return. But Proxy of Ivarne declined such
despair as groundless fear.

Kogall tried to attack him in the Styx Grotto during his way to Obsidian
Palace, but Heort adroitly dodged his attack as Orlanth did against Canis
Chaos, and the way of Only Old One is much easier to use than Orlanth's
route. But he could not go through there without permission of Only Old One,
for he was fair and he owed Heort because he knew his Ambassador Zorani had
attacked Heort.

Heort asked to Hell Wind during the way to Court of Silence, Lower Wind
howling with Great Pain.
"Hell Wind, Hell Wind, did you see my sweet green wife, Ivarne?"
"I saw her, she sneaked into the Hall of Maggotking, and she saw Orlanth
confronted Yelm and went through a trial and asked Him about the Secret
Temple of Old Wind, but I don't know why I lost her." Heort hastened his
way.

He secretly sneaked into the Court of Silence, Orlanth was under the trial,
and at that stage, he took the Bath of Flame, the other Five Lightbringers
and many Deads of Vingkotling surrounded him, and the Emperor watched
sternly to the trick of the Barbarian King.

Heort pushed his way through the crowd and reached to the Burning Foot of
Bath, Trolls who did the worst crime to their own kinfolk served to Yelm and
they would eat the corpse of Orlanth if he would fail. Heort whispered to
sleeping naked Orlanth,

"Lord, three requests, please let Elmal give Valarastans Armband."
"I am very comfortable." Heort realized it was the agreement.
"How can I help your trial."
"Bath of Flame is very good, Bath of Hatred is fine, but Bath of Truth...,
um, I clumsily left my loincloth(?), one of my six virtues to Old Wind
Temple, maybe I require it in the Last Bath, you will also find there what
you most wanted."
"Last Request. How can we know when you return to Kaurionaran?"
"I like bathing, but I will feel more comfortable when my Ring returned to
sky again and made their way to Rigsdal spirally."

Issaries whispered Heort's ear accurate position of the Old Wind. Heort
thanked each of Lightbringers and departed.

Heort didn't muster local Fyrd at that time and went to the Old Wind
directly without returning back to his clan, his clanmate finally thought
Heort was dead for he didn't long return and there was something wrong
thing. Though Proxy of Ivarne declined such despair as groundless fear,
eventually, one of children realized Ivarne didn't have her shadow, and they
went to panic and suddenly Ivarne's Proxy reverted to the pile of clothes.

There are Strong Wind on the Foot of Stormwalk Mountain, Heort was nearly
exhausted by the long quests, but Gods certainly smiled to him and Heort
felt flesh power when he breathed deeply the Wind. He found the spot there
only no wind.

Heort asked to the Secret Wind, No Wind.
"I understand you, Eye of Storm, did you see my sweet green wife, Ivarne?"
"I saw her inside of Temple, and she waits you." the Whirlwind, daughter of
Brastalos whispered to him.

When Heort entered the Invisible Temple, the Gate was shut behind him, and
he watched his beloved wife, Ivarne, sleeping over the center of Hall on the
rooster as he had firstly met her. Umbroli and Kolati, and still living Gods
cared her, because she had long been there, and only her spirit and soul
took a long journey.
