This is the website owned by Yooichi Kainoh. My major focus is chemical
ecology of parasitic insects, especially plant volatiles that attract parasitoid
wasps. We call this volatile chemical as HIPV (herbivore-induced plant
volatiles). I am interested in the behavioral responses of those wasps
to the volatiles and how these volatiles are induced and released. Other
interest is the semiochemicals mediating the individuals of the same species
(pheromone) and different species (kairomone or allomone). How these chemicals
were evolved in nature and how it works in natural environment, which are
the main topics in my studies. After retirement, I could get a fund for
project on the effect of LED light on orientation flight toward a sex pheromone
source.
