Toyohiko Okamoto (1778-1845)

Shijyo painter. Born in Okayama; studied painting there under Ryozan Kuroda. Then to Kyoto, where he became Goshun Matsumura's best pupil. After Goshun's death he and Keibun Matsumura were the leading Kyoto painters of the Shijyo school. Bunrin Shiokawa and Zeshin Shibata among his pupils. Was commissioned to repair the door of the Zoroku-an at the Shugakuin imperial villa, which had been painted by a Kano artist. Received title of HOGEN. Generally painted landscapes but was also an excellent painter of figures. Much influenced by early Chinese paintings.

Condition : There are wrinkle a little bit in painting. --There is no need to worry to much about it.
