バルセロナは低速から高速まであらゆるタイプのコーナーが揃い、ストレートも長い。BARが強い部分もあれば、ルノーが強い部分もあった。そんな中でフェラーリが全体的にまんべんなく強く、1-2フィニッシュで飾った。あらためてフェラーリの強さを思い知らされた。今回は天候などがフェラーリを助けたわけではなかった。残る13戦のうち、1戦を除いてどのサーキットでも強さを発揮するだろう。次の特殊なコースだけは不確定要素があるが・・・。 |

琢磨が見せつけられたトップドライバーの領域 バルセロナのコースレコードは、テストでは佐藤琢磨の1:13.797だったが、グランプリ週末でも佐藤が1:14.836を記録した。なお、公式には、ファステストラップ(M・シューマッハ、1:17.450)がコースレコードとなる。 M・シューマッハの予選タイム1:15.022は、2番手モントーヤに0.617秒も離す圧倒的なものだった。バリチェロにも1.050秒の差をつけた。M・シューマッハは3ストップのため燃料で7周分少なかったが、それを差し引いても0.3秒は速かった。 モントーヤの予選2番手も賞賛してしかるべきだった。ウィリアムズはフェラーリより0.8秒は遅く、バルセロナに合わない。だがモントーヤは暴れるマシンを力でねじ伏せた。ワンラップ予選で誰もがセーブして走る中、フロントローの二人はミスせず限界に近づく走りをした。佐藤はあらためてトップドライバーの領域を感じたであろう。 BARは1周のタイムなら速かった。だが、バルセロナは路面が粗いため、何周も走るとタイヤの磨耗が激しい。したがってレースでの速さを保証するものではなかった。逆にルノーは最速タイムだけの図に表れない力を持っていた。 |

燃費の悪さはピット遅さの主要因ではない 各ピットストップの時間を示した。ここではルノーが1回目と2回目に断トツの速さを見せた。さすがに24-25周のロングランになった3回目のストップは時間がかかった。 BARはピットストップが遅いことが批判の的になっている。全チームの中では並だが、トップを争うチームとしては致命傷となっている。よく燃費の悪さが原因と言われる。TV映像から超正確な給油時間を計測することは困難だ。BARのスタッフがもたついている分を給油時間に含めにくい。コンマ数秒の違いがあるだろうが、ホンダはルノーより1,000-2,000rpmは高回転だから燃費が悪くて当たり前である。給油時間のために最高速の差を失うわけにはいかない。私はむしろ発進時のダルさの方が問題だと思う。これはルノーやフェラーリが明らかに速い。レーススタートは速いBARが、なぜピットアウトが遅いかが疑問だ。ほかにも、ピット時間は0.1秒を削るための要素がたくさんある。単純ではなく、ピット以外の要素との兼ね合いになるのだろう。 マクラーレンは3ストップ勢の中では最も遅かった。チームスタッフのモチベーションも下がっているのだろうか。 |
The badness of mpg is

It is difficult to measure overly exact fuel-load time from TV image. It is hard to include the part to which the staff of BAR is slow in fuel-load time. Although there is probably a difference among several comma seconds, since 1,000 - 2,000 rpms of Honda are high rotation, its mpg is bad and is more natural than Renault. The difference of the maximum speed cannot be lost because of fuel-load time. I think that dull at the time of start is a problem rather. This has Renault and Ferrari clearly quick . It is a question why BAR has a quick race start but late pit out. Pit time has many elements for deleting 0.1 seconds in others. バリチェロとトゥルーリの目に見えない死闘 実は今回のレースの最大の見所は、19周目から43周目までの、トゥルーリとバリチェロによる目に見えない死闘だった。 18周を終えて、トゥルーリはバリチェロより1回多い2回のピットストップを必要とした。トゥルーリは2回目のストップまでにバリチェロに抜かれない20秒以上のリードを築きたかったが、それはできなかった。だが、19-22周の間、トゥルーリはバリチェロに1周で1秒ずつ離していた。2回目のストップで相手に先行されても、そこから僅差で後ろに迫れば、3回目のストップで再逆転できるはずだ。 24周目にトゥルーリがピットアウトしたとき、バリチェロが7.989秒先行した。トゥルーリはここから差を詰めたかった。27周目、6.654秒に縮まった。ルノーは行けると思ったはずだ。 だが、28周目にトゥルーリは1:20秒台に落ちた。29-30周目にバリチェロが1:18秒台でがんばった。ここで差は9.213秒に広がった。 トゥルーリはあきらめずに33周目に7.863秒差に戻した。バリチェロもやり返し、両者は一進一退の攻防を続けた。互いの姿が近くに見えるわけではなかった。 バリチェロが踏ん張り、40周目で8.989秒の差を保った。トゥルーリは41周目に先にピットインせざるを得なくなった。ここで勝負は決した。トゥルーリが3秒以内に迫っていれば、逆転は可能だったが、それはならなかった。とはいえ、トゥルーリは劣るマシンとタイヤでよく戦ったと言える。バリチェロもサンマリノでの教訓を生かした。 |

The difference spread here at 9.213 seconds. Trulli was returned to the 33rd lap for 7.863 seconds at the difference, without abandoning it. BARとルノー、佐藤とアロンソ、それぞれの差 佐藤はアロンソに2回目のストップで逆転された。このことから、BARとルノーの差、そして佐藤とアロンソの差は何だったのだろうか。単純に、佐藤の能力が低く、アロンソが高いと言い切ることはできない。 18周目、4位佐藤は1:20.416に落ち込んだ。5位アロンソは1:19.431で済んだ。二人の差は2.239秒に縮まった。22周目、二人の差は0.976秒と1秒を切った。24周目は1.422秒。バルセロナ特有の問題として、ルノーがタイヤに優しく、BARは厳しい。スティントの終盤にその傾向が出た。 25周目、アロンソがピットインした。次の周に佐藤もピットインした。佐藤が出た時、アロンソは4秒先を行ってしまった。この差は、ちょうどアウトラップの二人の差に等しかった。 ピットレーン通過時間は、アロンソが21.816秒、佐藤が23.597秒で、1.781秒の差があった。ここで逆転された。さらに、アロンソは佐藤のアウトラップの間に自身のベストタイムを記録して差を広げたのだった。 一方、佐藤はアロンソがピットインしている間に、1:19.013という平凡なタイムしか出せなかった。佐藤は磨耗したミシュランタイヤで速いタイムが出せなかった。M・シューマッハがブリヂストンなら終盤にも速いタイムが出せることとは対照的だった。これは佐藤個人の力だけではどうしようもあるまい。ルノーは先にピットインした方が有利だとわかっていた。ここでも戦略の差が出た。 また、現時点で、BARはピットワークに課題があり、ルノーに2秒以内に後ろに付かれたら逆転されてしまうことも明らかになった。 50周目、3回目ピットストップの後、佐藤はアロンソに2.5秒差まで詰め寄った。だが、周回遅れの処理でアロンソが1:19秒台までしか落ちなかったのに対し、佐藤は1:20秒台に落ちた。ここで再び4秒差に広がってしまった。佐藤としても周回遅れの処理が課題となった。 とはいえ、今の佐藤は、開幕3戦の不安定さが消えてきており、安定感を身に付けつつある時だろう。ここで多くのことを期待しすぎるのも酷だ。われわれはF1のトップドライバーが何を身に付けているかが、佐藤とともに改めて感じている。一歩ずつ学んでいけば良いと思う。 |
