Gene for the Scene

---Dazhimen Station Annex---

Design small but tall architecture in narrow alley close to Dazhimen Station that you have designed.

This architecture must have "gene" for the Scene in the city.

Draw the Scene that will be generated between Dazhimen Station and the Annex.

Make a clearance more than 200mm between the surfaces of existing wall and new wall.

2: function

Activities related with the Station Project you designed.

3: Structure and Shape

Use your idea in Station Project, or at the least, learn from it.

The Station and the Annex should be related with each other.

You will be asked about your Architectural Idea about the relation.

On the other hand, remember that you can change the design of the Station to afford it to the Annex.

Don't be afraid of the big change.

4: Gene

We design architecture not only for current but for future.

Architects must reckon how his/her design will influence for the circumstance and the environment.

They need to imagine how the city will change by the architecture.

In the old district in front of the Station, some traditional and interesting spaces have been reserved.

But most of them are hidden so that visitors would never notice the fascinating scenes.

On the other hand, we can easily find some confusion with tall buildings.

And some buildings show the shuttered windows and walls for pedestrian on the ground, which make unfamiliar scenes on the street.

So you need to design the gene to modify the scenes there, especially between the Station and the annex.

However, what is gene in architecture? Structure, shape, material, scale, activity, or..? It is our question.

Meanwhile, you have already known it because you are now designing the annex with the gene of the Station.

5: Scene

You need to draw various scenes in and out of the Annex with street, alley and the district.

One of the important mission is to draw a scene between the Station and the Annex.

Now buildings are exiting there, but fifteen, twenty or thirty years later, they will be demolished and new ones will be required.

And the new buildings will be designed with the gene you would design in the Annex.

Even if another architect than you design them, you can give your idea for the architect.

Imagine the scene that will appear between the Station and the Annex after decades.
