［How to purify your hands and mouth］ 　 　Before you pray, piease purify your body amd mind. 　 　Please prepare handkerchief in advance. 　 　 １　Take the dipper with your right hand. 　 ２　Ladle water and wash your left hand. 　 ３　Take the dipper with your left hand and wash your right hand. 　 ４　Take the dipper with your right hand again, and pour water into your left hand. 　 ５　Wash your mouth with water in your left hand. 　　Be carefull not to touch the dipper directly with your mouth. 　 ６　After washing your mouth, wash your left hand again. 　 ７　Finally, hold the dipper upright so the remaining water runs from it down the handle to rinse it, then replace it gently on the stand.

　

［手水のとり方］ 　 　お参りの前には、手水をして、心身を清めましょう。 　 　手水舎に至ったら、予め、濡れた手を拭くためのハンカチを、取りやすいようにしておくと良いでしょう。 　 １　右手で柄杓を取って下さい。 　 ２　水盤の水を汲み上げ、左手にかけて洗い流して下さい。 　 ３　柄杓を左手に持ちかえ、右手を洗い流して下さい。 　 　 ４　再び柄杓を右手に持ちかえ、左の手のひらに水を受けて溜めて下さい。 　 ５　その水で口をすすいで下さい（柄杓には直接口をつけないようにしましょう）。 　 ６　口をすすぎ終わったら、水をもう一度左手にかけて流して下さい。 　 ７　最後に柄杓を立てて残っている水で柄の部分を洗い流すようにし、柄杓を伏せて元の位置に置いて下さい。
