M・シューマッハ年13勝目、佐藤は悔しい4位
(10/10)
日本GPは佐藤琢磨のためのレースだったが、彼はバトンの後ろの4位に終わった。佐藤はスタート1コーナーでバトンに譲った。7周目に佐藤はバトンのミスで3位に浮上した。しかし3ストップの佐藤は、2ストップのバトンに差を開くことができなかった。佐藤はシケインでビルヌーブをオーバーテイクするなど見せ場は作った。レース後に佐藤は首の痛みとドリンクボトルの故障を語っていた。鈴鹿で3年連続入賞(6位、5位、4位)で、かつての日本人ドライバーなら大満足の成績だが、もっと大きな期待があっただけに消化不良だったことは否めない。
M・シューマッハはブリヂストンのために勝つというモチベーションがあった。予選とレース序盤に全力を尽くし、あとは2位との差を見ながら余裕のフイニッシュ。ラルフは淡々と2位走行。レース後に兄を祝福する素振りを見せなかったのが意外だった。
シケイン席で見たが、ここはドラマのある場所だ。13周目、佐藤がビルヌーブをオーバーテイクした。22周目、モントーヤがトゥルーリを抜こうとしてオーバーランしたところをバリチェロにかわされた。38周目、クルサードとバリチェロが接触。両者はマシンにダメージを負ってリタイヤした。

Michael 13th win in the year, Sato
mortifying 4th (Oct.10)
Although Japan GP was a race for Takuma Sato, he finished with the 4th place
behind Button. Sato yielded Button at start 1st corner. Sato surfaced by the
mistake of Button to the 7th lap at the 3rd place. However, Sato of 3 stops was
not able to open a difference to Button of 2 stops. He made a highlight of
overtaking of Villeneuve by the chicane. Sato was telling the ache of a neck,
and failure of a drink bottle after the race. If it is an once Japanese driver,
although it is the results of large satisfaction in three year continuation
getting points (6th, 5th, 4th), because there was greater expectation, it cannot
be denied in Suzuka that it was dyspeptic.
Michael had the motivation of winning for Bridgestone. It is the finish of a
margin, while he did his best at the beginning of a qualifying and a race and
the rest looks at the difference with the 2nd place. Ralf run the 2nd place
indifferently. It was unexpected to have not intimated after the race an
intention to bless an elder brother.
Although seen in the chicane seat, this is a place with a drama. Sato did the
overtaking of Villeneuve 13th lap. Barrichello glue of the place which Montoya
tended to pass Trulli and overran was carried out 22nd lap. Coulthard and
Barrichello contacted 38th lap. Both undertook and did the retired of the damage
to the machine.

Michael grabbed 63rd PP on Sunday's qualifying. Trulli which ran at the end in
the situation of yet not drying as a brick topped. Also for the last
qualifying, Toyota vigor was 6th and 10th. 3rd of surprise of Webber. Sato was
4th. Villeneuve was in front of Alonso. Raikkonen, Montoya, and Barrichello
sank back with the 1 from match.

史上初の日曜予選

台風の影響で予選は土曜に行わず、日曜の朝に行われることになった。一部に予想された、前戦中国GPの決勝順(1位バリチェロ、12位M・シューマッハ)にはならなかった。
F1の予選が日曜に行われるのは史上初。F1改革で検討された日曜午前予選案がひょんなことから実現。今後に向けての試験的な試みともなる。

The qualifying will not be performed on Saturday under the influence of the
typhoon, but it will be carried out on Sunday morning. It did not become the
order of a final result of the previous race China GP (1st Barrichello, 12th
Michael) expected in part.
