Her form was very beautiful, so the Emperor said to her as follows. "Whose child you are?" "My name is Akawiko of Hiketabe." He said as follows through a follower. "You must not become a bride of the other man. I let you give you now." He returned to the Imperial Palace. So Akawiko believed emperor's word and passed through 80 years (long years). Akawiko thought as follows. "While I was waiting for emperor's word, I passed through many years already. My form got thin and shriveled. I have called no chance. However, I'd like to manifest my mind for which I'm waiting. I can't stand it." She makes a person have Momotorinotsukuweshironomono (betrothal present), and calls, and she has presented. But the Emperor forgot speaking before completely. He said to Akawiko as follows through a follower. "What kind of old woman are you? By what kind of reason did you call? Akawiko said. "Before, I received emperor's word. Eighty years have passed since I waited for your word up to now. My aspect just grew old completely, but it isn't called from you. However, my will was manifested, and called to say." The Emperor was very astonished and said as follows. "I forgot before already. But you have defended a will, have waited for the word and have spent years of a crown of womanhood wastefully. Very pitiful." The Eemperor seemed to get married to Akawiko, but she hesitated about growing old very much. He couldn't get married to her, so he gave the following poetry. "Holy oak tree of MimoronoYashiro. It's holy like the tree and dignified. Kashiharawotome of Miwa." He composed poetry. "Woods of a young chestnut of Hiketa. At the time when you're young, sleeping together, would. You just grew old." A tear of Akawiko wetted a sleeve of the clothes she dyed red completely. She offered the following song. "Wonderful fence of MimoronoYashiro. I have served, but now, whom will I depend on? Shall I serve KaminoMiya?" She composed poetry. "Lotus in an inlet in Kusakae. Flower of a lotus beautiful and in bloom. Such young lady is enviable." The Emperor gave many goods to the old woman and reciprocated. Four of this poetry is Shiduuta. |
