Geta
Outdoor footwear made of a thong attached to a wooden
platform with two crosswise supports.
The Geta platform is usually made of paulownia or cryptomeria wood,the
supports(called ha,,"teeth")of oak or magnolia,and
the thong of cloth or leather.
Geta are still worn today as casual footwear,especially
with the unlined Kimono called yukata..


Zori
A kind of thonged sandals. Zori have been used widely
in Japan for more than a millenium.
Today they are still regarded as the most appropriate
footwear for use with Kimono.
Women's Zori consist of a wedged sole covered
with leather,cloth,or vinyl and thongs (called Hanao)made of the
same material.


These are covred with the same woven rush material
as tatami mats with cloth thongs.
