今日レースを見てこいつはニックネームがいるとひそかに思った。ジェームス・アレンはサトーをソフトに評しつつも、トラック上のアニマルと言った。彼は決してギャップが好きじゃない。彼は本当にエキサイティングなドライバーだ。味があり、なおエキサイティングなやつ。サトーのニックネームは何がいいかな。サムライ・サトーはどう？

I was watching the race today and I thought to myself this guy needs a nickname. James Allen referred to Sato as being soft spoken in person but an animal on track. It seems like Sato has never seen a gap he didn't like. He is a really exciting driver. A bit nutty but exciting nonetheless. Any suggestions on what Sato's nickname should be? Samurai Sato?!

"The Red Baron", "The Flying Scot/Finn", The Monza Gorilla", "Super Swede" weren't considered offensive. As long as he isn't named after something sensitive then why should it be a problem? Takuma "Lucky Strike" Sato would for example be both pleasing to his sponsors and Rubens Barrichello.

On CP's forum we already call him "Kamikaze Taku" . Think It's quite appropriate. Have a pic of that too, but I'm too stupid to get It posted here (url, img?????). I think he drove brilliantly. He has drive, wants to win and actually overtakes - which is more than can be said of some (boring) drivers now. I don't think he's being reckless, only ambitious. Or how about "The Toaster" , which is almost an anagram of his name, and what he does!

We refer to him here as "Take-'em-out"

I just mentioned it in another thread. Just because he spices up the races quite a bit he should be called: Wasabi Sato.

SC再開でＭ・シューマッハがバリチェロをコントロールラインの手前で追い抜いた。
3位アロンソがストレートでタイヤがブローし、クラッシュ。その後、ラルフもクラッシュ。ラルフは降りられず、2度目のセーフティカー。
各車ピットインするが、BARは入らず。

琢磨4位に下がる (6/20)
モントーヤがスタート直前にスペアカーに乗り換えピットスタート。
スタートで佐藤はＭ・シューマッハの2度の幅寄せに阻まれ、さらに1コーナーでアロンソの先行を許す。下位集団が1コーナーで多重事故。クリエン、マッサ、パンターノ、ブルーニが消えた。セーフティカー出動。

Alonso and Ralf crashed (Jun.20)
M.Schumacher passed Barrichello before the control line by SC in. 
3rd Alonso brew the tyre and crashed. Then, Ralf also crashed. Ralf cannot get down and 2nd safety car entries. Although each vehicle pit in is carried out, BAR does not enter. 

Taku backed 4th (Jun.20)
Montoya changed to the spare car just before the start and started from pitlane.
At the start, Sato brought near width by M.Schu１macher twice at a start, was obstructed, and precedence of Alonso was allowed at further 1st corner. A low rank group was at 1st corner and it was a multiplex accident. Klien, Massa, Pantano, and Bruni disappeared. Safety car mobilization.

私の意見では、サトーはジェンソンより天性の速さを持っている。それは、最近の4-5レースで示した。彼は、よりアグレッシブで、レーストラックでより働く。じきに彼はミスや無謀な追い抜きをなくせば、僕らはタクが高いレベルのドライバーと思うだろう。ホンダが彼に完走できるエンジンを与えることも重要だ。(UK)

Don't be silly. SATO = Still trying to beat his teammate qualifying or races, Fisichella totally blitzed him at both and so is Button yeah he's a champion yeah right ! You've got to be on drugs surely ?

Sato has more natural speed than Jenson IMO, and he's showing it in qualifying over the last 4/5 races. He is more aggressive and uses more of the racetrack. As soon as (or if) he can cut out the mistakes and over-ambitious passing attempts, we might have a very high caliber driver in Taku. It's also important that Honda give him an engine that goes the distance. (UK)

Make no mistake, this weekend is nothing short of the coronation of Taku as the next F1 superstar, and peeps on this board who don't give him any respect are going to have to eat their words, especially those that position themselves as some kind of expert and are ignoring the next star in the making in top level auto racing! Remember what Sato did in F3. THIS BOY IS THE REAL FRICKIN DEAL; GET A GRIP NAYSAYERS!! Japan is going to go NUTS!!!

If he calms down a bit, he'll become a great.

Sato is faster than Button, but both still lack some raw speed to become champion one day. BAR is fantastic car, too bad drivers aren't that fantastic.

Sato is the man of the year IMHO. Of course he must learn some more. But it is really an excitement to watch him in the qualifying.

he is like a premature ejaculator in a world of porno stars... seriously though.. I think in terms of sheer speed the guy def is quicker than his team-mate. he needs a little more experience and practice so he doesn't over do it. (India)

Some people only see results and only when they want. Other people see the quality. The guy has what it takes to be a WDC not having the best car of the grid. On the other hand JB could only win ・la Mansell but that's all.

Fisi will never amount to anything beyond his one fluke victory. he could have been at Renault. talent or not if he was a winner head have been picked by now. another 2 seasons and he will be a never was and then off to DTM

I don't know about WDC or not, but he is definitely one of the most exciting racers out there. When you watch him, you know you'll get 110% racing. That is what in the sense primitive racing is! guys taking chances, and on the edge! Thank you for bringing back the spirit of Gilles! I think Sato career might mirror Gilles, hopefully sans the tragedy. Great speed, exciting to watch, but results may not match the talent.

予選はバリチェロが今季初PP。金曜から好調を結果に出した。2番手Ｍ・シューマッハはターン7でミスしてセクター2で0.4秒のタイムロス。佐藤はセクター2トップで3番手、バトン4番手。3列目はモントーヤとラルフのウィリアムズ勢。ルノーはアロンソ9番手、トゥルーリがトラブルでタイムなしに終わった。

For the qualifying, Barrichello took first PP this season. Good condition was taken out from Friday to the result. 2nd M.Schumacher missed at turn 7 and lost the time in sector 2. Sato who topped at sector 2 was 3rd and Button was 4th. 3rd row were Montoya and Ralf of Williams. Renault were 9th Alonso and no time of Trulli.

琢磨3番手に浮上 (6/19)
佐藤琢磨は土曜フリー走行で最多の37周を走った。前半7番手、後半3番手と、予選を戦える位置に浮上してきた。バンクのあるセクター3ではトップ。ロングランペースは1:13秒台。
バリチェロは前半まで3セッション連続トップだったが、後半はバトンがトップ。フェラーリ対BARの図式。トヨタは昨年ここで予選3番手だったが、今年も調子を上げてきた。
  		Taku surfaced 3rd (Jun.19)
Takuma Sato ran most 37 laps in Saturday practices. He has risen to surface in the first half in 7th and the position which can fight a qualifying with 3rd in the second half. He topped at the sector 3 with the bank. The long-run pace was the level of 1:13 seconds. Although Barrichello was a three session continuation top till the first half, Button topped the second half. The diagram of Ferrari pair BAR. Although Toyota was a qualifying of 3rd here last year, the tune has also been raised this year.

サトーは何やってんだか。フリー走行なのに本当に一風変わった事故だ。マッサとサトーを今年同じチームにしろと言いたい。どんなに楽しませてくれることか。（アメリカ）

サトーによると、彼はマッサより速いラップを走っていた。マッサは最終コーナーでミスしたのでストレートで遅かった。だからより速い車に譲るべきだった。

スピードTVのライブの間、リチャーズはサトーにとても冷ややかだったかのようだ。明らかにサトーのミスではない。だがまだ金曜フリー走行だろ。頼むよ・・・。

うん、でもリプレイを見る限り、明らかにサトーに「先に行かせろ」という状況のようには見えないね。ターン１まで離れていたのに突いたようだ。マッサのコーナー出口は悪いとはいえない。（アメリカ）

彼はすばらしく車をコントロールし、あらゆるときもレーシングモードで驚くべき欲望がある。それはポジティブなことだ。でも彼の頭脳は、6マイル離れたもう1台の車に乗り換えられない事実を考慮に入れてない。たぶん彼はブレーキングで過信してたんだろう。（イギリス）

F1ドライバーがロケット科学者のように利口であるべきとは思わない。だがサトーはいかに低い知能指数を持ってF1を戦っているかを示した。

サトーが愚かだとは思わない。ドライバーはキンタマと脳みその間でバランスをとる必要がある。私はサトーのケースでキンタマ側に重く量られると思う。良いドライバーは状況に応じて変化できる。サトーはすぐにバトルで選ぶことを学んだ方が良い。そうでなければすぐにF1より下のカテゴリへ落ちるだろう。（オーストラリア）

What was Sato up to this time??? That incident was truly bizarre given that it was just practice. I say stick Massa and Sato in the same team for a year, just think how entertaining that would be. (USA)

According to sato he was running a fast lap, as was massa, and massa messed up the last turn making him slower on the straight so should have stayed out of the way of the faster car coming through.

richards was very cynical of sato during the live coverage on speed tv. something like, yes it's clearly not sato's fault, but it's just a friday practice for jaysus's sake...

Yeah but I only caught the end of a replay, it didn't exactly seem like Sato was in a "let me past" situation, looked a bit like he lunged from a distance into turn one. Massa's exit can't have been THAT bad. (USA)

He's got fantastic car control, and a tremendous desire to be in a "racing mode" all the time, which is a positive thing. But his brain just isn't allowing for the fact that you can't jump another car from 6 miles back... Maybe he thinks he's got some supersonic brakes or something. (UK)

I don't think F1 drivers ever have been or even should be as smart as rocket scientists. But Sato really is showing how low IQ one can have and still qualify as F1 driver.

I don't think Sato is that stupid. Drivers need a balance between Balls and Brains. I just think the scales are weighed way to heavily on the balls side in Sato's case. The thing that makes good drivers is the ability to change as required. Sato had better learn to pick his battles soon, or he will be back in the lower grades pretty quickly. (Australia)
