Brawn "Michael had a slim chance to win"  (May 28)
Ross Brawn "He would have been six tenths of a second faster because he had less fuel. He did a lap which was four tenths of a second faster than Jarno at the end of his first stint so potentially the car was four tenths of a second faster, which is a total of one second per lap. That makes 17 seconds over 17 laps, the Monaco pitlane is 13 seconds long and we had a very short fuel stop which...makes 17 seconds, which means we had a chance of winning the race. It was a slim chance because everything had to go right. I think that last safety car opened a window for us that was at least worth having a go at." (Atlas)

Sato's start was unbelievable. pity the car blew up. but he should have been off-track earlier. (Austria)

Why wasn't Takuma shown a black flag???? That could've ended in an even more dangerous incident! What if his engine had blown in the tunnel?! Charlie Whiting should feel a bit embarrassed.

Sato should definitely have been black flagged, and if DC was correct, he should have also been penalized for jumping the start. I know many posters rate him highly, but I'm still waiting to be impressed. (Canada)

I disagree. His engine started smoking at the start of lap-2 and then blowed-up at the middle of lap-3.Maybe he could've fix it by changing the fuel mixture or something. You never know.

If it still kept smoking after over 5 laps or after he'd everything he could, I would've agree with you. But it was just 1.5 laps.

I feel bad for Sato too. You would think with Honda's heavy backing that Sato would not be the one getting all the engine failures (3 out of 6 races) while Button has had perfect reliability. It's especially bad since Sato was in points scoring position when those engine failures happened!!! Sato will get a great result before this season is over, I'm sure of that! (USA)

46周目、1位M・シューマッハがノーズと前輪を壊し、リタイヤ。開幕6連勝は成らなかった。左前輪が煙を出してスローダウンしたところを、後続のモントーヤに追突され、壁にぶつかった模様。
1位トゥルーリ、2位バトン、3位バリチェロ、4位モントーヤ、5位マッサ、6位ダ・マッタ、7位ハイドフェルド、8位R・シューマッハ。10台がリタイヤ。

アロンソ、トンネルでクラッシュ (5/23)
42周目、2位アロンソがトンネルで周回遅れのラルフをかわそうとして壁に激突。セーフティカーが出ている間にバトン、次の周にトゥルーリがピットイン。M・シューマッハはなぜか入らず。
1位M・シューマッハ、2位トゥルーリ、3位バトン、4位バリチェロ、5位モントーヤ、6位ダ・マッタ、7位マッサ、8位ハイドフェルド。

ミヒャエル1回目ストップで3位浮上 (5/23)
1回目ピットストップ開始。13周目モントーヤ、18周目バトン、19周目ライコネン、20周目バリチェロ、24周目トゥルーリ、25周目アロンソ、26周目M・シューマッハ。
M・シューマッハはピット前に1:14秒台を連発して追い上げていた。
1位トゥルーリ、2位アロンソ、3位M・シューマッハ、4位バトン、5位バリチェロ、6位ダ・マッタ、7位モントーヤ、8位ハイドフェルド。すでに7台がリタイヤ。

琢磨4位ジャンプも白煙、赤旗へ (5/23)
決勝は晴天。パニスがスタートできず赤旗再スタート。
佐藤が7番手から4位にジャンプしたが、2周目に白煙で止まる。クルサードにフィジケラが突っ込み、大破。今季初のセーフティカー。
1位トゥルーリ、2位アロンソ、3位バトン、4位ライコネン、5位M・シューマッハ、6位バリチェロ、7位モントーヤ、8位ウェバー。
 
Trulli got maiden win (May 23)
Trulli got 1st victory in his 119th GP. Renault also win first time at Monaco independently.
2nd Button, 3rd Barrichello, 4th Montoya, 5th Massa, 6th da Matta, 7th Heidfeld, 8th R.Schumacher. Toyota both 2 cars pointed. 

Michael crashed and could not win 6 straight   (May 23)
46th lap, 1st M.Schumacher broke nose and front wheel. He retired and could not win 6 straight. He slowed down by smoke of left front wheel, crashed by Montoya from behind and hit the wall.
1st Trulli, 2nd Button, 3rd Barrichello, 4th Montoya, 5th Massa, 6th da Matta, 7th Heidfeld, 8th R.Schumacher. 10 cars retired.

Alonso crashed in the tunnel (May 23)
42nd lap, 2nd place Alonso tended to pass Ralf of backmarker in a tunnel, and crashes into a wall. While the safety car has come out, Trulli pitted in, Button also pitted in next lap. M.Schumacher did not enter, why?  

Michael surfaced to 3rd at 1st stop  (May 23)
At 1st pit stop, Montoya 13th lap, Button 18th lap, .Raikkonen 19th, Barrichello 20th, Trulli 24th, Alonso 25th, M.Schumacher 26th.
M.Schumacher was firing and catching up with the level of 1:14 seconds in front of the pit in.
1st Trulli, 2nd Alonso, 3rd M.Schumacher, 4th Button, 5th Barrichello, 6th da Matta, 7th Montoya, 8th Heidfeld. 7 cars already retired.

Taku jumped up 4th but smoked and red flag
  (May 23)
It was sunny in the race. Panis could not start and the red flag was shown.
Sato jumped up to 4th from 7th but stopped at 2nd lap by smoke. Fisichella was greatly thrust in to Coulthardand and damaged. The safety car appeared first this season.

モナコはチャンピオンのみPPから勝てる (5/22)
過去20年、モナコでPPから勝った者を見ると、プロスト、セナ、M・シューマッハ、ハッキネンの4人で、2回以上のチャンピオンしかいない。

F1史上、チャンピオン以外でのモナコPP勝者は、1960-61年のスターリング・モスしかいない。モスは選手権2位を4回も記録し、ほとんどチャンピオン級のドライバーだった。

過去10年で見ても、PPから勝った者は1994年のM・シューマッハと、1998年のハッキネンしかいない。いずれもその年のチャンピオンだった。トゥルーリは困難な記録に挑むことになる。

Only the champion can win from PP in Monaco  (May 22)
In the past 20 years, Monaco winners from PP, there are only 2 times or more of champions by 4 persons, Prost, Senna, M.Schumacher, and Hakkinen.
 
In the F1 history, Monaco PP winner other than  champions was only Stirling Moss in 1960 and 1961. Moss recorded the 2nd place of the championship 4 times, and was almost the drivers of the champion class. 

Even in the past 10 years, only M.Schumacher in 1994 and Hakkinen in 1998 were in having won from PP. All were the champions of the year. Trulli will challenge difficult record.

Pity with Sato, though it was awesome to look at. After that mistake he got a bit ragged and made another mistake. But when those tiny, tiny rough edges are smoothed out...

Sato made a couple of mistakes, but the speed was there and as it's only his second year. Disappointing but not a disaster. (UK)

Sato clearly sucks. Man, they got rid of a World Champion for Sato. Why is David Richards not being burnt at the stake right now??

You suck if you're slow. Sato wasn't slow, he was very fast but tried too hard. Jaques wasn't directly the fastest around Monaco was he?

Idiot comment. Takuma did extremely well today, that save was pretty impressive. He's been on Jenson's pace in all sessions, that when he's only raced here once before. (I know about the historic event, but should we count that? Nah.)

Sato put a wheel on the kerb coming out of the tunnel, that cost him maybe 0.4 sec or so as he locked up. One mistake - like Button last time - and it was costly. However, this time it does not appear that BAR has the best or 2nd best car. (UK)

Looks like Sato hasn't learned his lesson yet, and is still overdriving the car. If he keeps it up, he be replaced by Davidson in the near future.

Trulli the only man who entered 1:13 seconds took the 1st PP. Button 2nd. 3rd Alonso. M.Schumacher who aims 6 consecutive win from opening stopped at 4th. Raikkonen got 5th and his best of this year. 6th Barrichello. Sato missed at the nubel chicane and was 7th.

ミヒャヤルノ琢磨が0.006差でトップ3 (5/22)
後半は1:14.0でM・シューマッハ、トゥルーリ、佐藤の3人が0.006秒差以内でトップ3。アロンソ+0.124、モントーヤ+0.198。バトンは+0.632と遅れた。バリチェロは+1.160で違うタイヤか。ルノーはロングランでも1:15ペースをキープして速い。ミヒャエルがスーパーソフトを選んだなら、耐久性に不安。10周分ならPPを取れるがピットストップで逆転される恐れあり。日本人佐藤が伝統のモナコでフロントローを狙う。

前半はフェラーリが1-2を占めたが、まだ木曜のタイムを上回っていない。各チームとも抑え気味で周回数が少なかった。ミナルディは2台ともクラッシュ。

Three persons, M.Schumacher, Trulli, and Sato, are top 3 within a 0.006 second difference at 1:14.0 the second half. Alonso +0.124, Montoya +0.198. Button was late with +0.632. Is Barrichello the tire which is different by +1.160? Renault's long run kept 1:15 paces and is also quick. Uneasy in durability, if Michael chooses super soft tyre. What does a qualifying carry out the amount of fuel loading? Sato aims at a front row at traditional Monaco.

Although Ferrari occupied 1-2 the first half, they have not yet exceeded the time on Thursday. The number of times of a lap had few each teams in prevention feeling. Minardi 2 cars crashed.

ここで何としても勝ちたいM・シューマッハが開幕以来の午前・午後ともトップ。佐藤は午前に2番手。BAR3台のベストセクターを集めると1:14.893、ルノー2台は1:15.205。セクター1はBAR、セクター2はフェラーリ、セクター3はルノーがそれぞれ速い。

R・シューマッハはエンジン交換をしたため、予選グリッド10位降下となる。
 
Thursday Practice (May 20)
In the morning and an afternoon, M.Schumacher who wanted to win topped both since opening game. Sato was 2nd in the morning. When the best sectors of three BARs were collected, 1:14.893 and Renault 2 set were 1:15.205. BAR was fast at the sector 1, Ferrari sector 2 and Renault sector 3.

R.Schumacher exchanged the engine and is descending the 10th place of the qualifying grid.

フェラーリ、超ソフトタイヤでのぞむ (5/19)
ロス・ブラウン「完全にタイヤに依存するだろう。テストは新タイヤで良い結果を得た。去年よりは準備がよく出来ている。耐久性は多少犠牲にしても、1周の速さには満足だ。」 (英オートスポート)

※昨年ミシュランにやられたブリヂストンは、M・シューマッハに何としてもセナに並ぶモナコ最多6勝をしてほしいと願う。最近のレースでフェラーリの数少ない弱点は、スタートの1周目にグリップしないことでもあった。超ソフトタイヤはその対策になる。前に出さえすれば、ここではタレても勝てる。(sio)
 
Ferrari challenges with super soft tyre (May 19)
Ross Brawn "It's going to depend totally on the tyres. and we've had some good results with the new tyres in tests. We are much better prepared than we were last year and, even though we have had to sacrifice a little consistency, we are much happier with our one-lap pace." (Autosport)

* Wish Bridgestone damaged by the Michelin last year wants you to make M.Schumacher six victories of the Monaco most numerous located in a line with Senna at any cost. モンテカルロ (5/18)
昨年のM・シューマッハは燃料を31周分も積んで5番手で失敗した。今年は、12-13周分あたりになると思われる。フェラーリはここで圧倒的なタイム差を持てないから、軽くしなければならない。BARやルノーとの駆け引きが見ものだ。公道の路面は他のサーキットと異なる。昨年はラバーグリップがついた土曜にミシュランが飛躍的にタイムを伸ばした。

なお、ここから2週連続開催が3回続くことになる。
 

Monte Carlo (May 18)
Last year, M.Schumacher stacked fuel amount of 31 laps and failed in 5th grid. It is thought that it becomes around 12-13 laps this year. Since Ferrari cannot have an overwhelming time difference here, they have to make it light. The diplomacy with BAR and Renault is spectacular. The road surface of a public road differs from other circuits. Michelin lengthened the time by leaps and bounds on Saturday which the rubber grip attached last year.

In addition, two week continuation holding will continue 3 times from here.
