XTC＋Dave Gregoryの弟でドラマーのIan Gregoryの4人がThe Dukes of Stratosphearという変名でリリースしたミニ・アルバム。 アナログ盤面によくみられるスクラッチは SIDE-A "TO BE TAKEN TWICE DALI"、SIDE-B"I CAN SEE FOUR MOLES"。 ジャケットはコラージュとサインペンによる緻密なフリーハンドに色鮮やかなマーカーで彩色されたもの。 これを自宅の食卓でハサミ片手に仕上げたのは、Sir John Johns こと Andy Partridge 。ご苦労様でした。

ヴォーカルにはエコーが強くかけられ、ファズ・ギターやメロトロンを多用したサイケデリックなアルバムをプロデュースしたJohn Leckieは、XTCの初期2枚のアルバムのプロデューサー。 Dukesを手がけたという理由で彼のプロデュースを希望したバンドはKula Shaker , The Stone Rosesなど。

リリースは1985年エイプリル・フール、このレコードのために復活させたVirginレーベルの旧ロゴは、Yesのアルバムジャケットで知られるRoger Deanのデザイン。 1984年11-12月にレコーディング、1985年1月リリースの予定だったが「ヒッピーをコケにした冗談レコード＊（Andy Partridge談）」のヒットと時期をずらすため時期を遅らせた。

the Dukes of Stratosphear名義の2作目。 今回は正体を知られたうえでのリリース、前作"25 O'clock"よりも幾分XTCとの距離が縮まっている。 ジャケットは見開きで、内側に"THANK YOU LILY FRASER , WHATEVER YOU ARE"とクレジット。 Lily Fraserは "Have You Seen Jackey?" などでお話ししている少女の名前。レコーディングしたスタジオの上に住んでいたそうだ。
レコードは濃い紫色のマーブル模様…もうちょっときれいな色の方が嬉しかった。
