Dear visitors,

Today, thanks to the efforts of doctors, medical technicians and commercial enterprises, advances can be seen in the field of medical instruments.
Computers, especially, have revolutionized the way in which medical machinery is used in operations and treatment.
It is evident that contemporary medical instruments have contributed to advances in ophthalmology and surgery.
However, old instruments were mostly discarded one after another soon after they were replaced by newer models.
These older models are quite difficult to find nowadays.
This museum has an extensive collection of old medical instruments that have been preserved for more than 100 years at Okuzawa eye clinic and Takeoka surgical clinic, along with instruments that have been donated by other doctors.
In the exhibition cases you can see typical instruments for diagnosis, operations and treatment.
A similar private collection exists in Germany, but this will be the first one in the world that is open to the public.
Finally, I would like to give a warm welcome to all visitors to this museum and hope that you enjoy it.
