TYOURAKIJI　TEMPLE

桜と紅葉の美しい古刹。建礼門院は平家滅亡の後、この寺で尼となったとされる。寺宝に安徳天皇の衣で作った幡があり、拝観所には建礼門院像がある。

建礼門院が出家したお寺として有名

This temple was originally built in 805 by Priest Saicho, the fouder of Tendai Budhism, but changed to a Ji Buddhist temple in the beginning of the Muromachi period. The main figure of the temple is the Juichimen Kanzinon, or eleven-faced Kanzenon, statue. Another item of interest is a flag that was made using the clothes of the tragically killed Emeror Antoku by his mother, Emperss Kenreimonin.
