| 詩仙堂（丈山寺） SHISENDOU （JYOUZANJI） 軍律を破ったために徳川家康のもとを離れ、後に風流三昧の歳月を送った江戸時代の文人・石川丈山が隠棲していた山荘。名の由来は、四方の壁に狩野探幽筆の中国三十六詩仙像を掲げた詩仙の間から来ており、詩仙像にはそれぞれの詩を丈山が自ら書き添えている。彼は１６４１年から草庵を結んで漢詩を詠み、茶の湯をたしなみ、造園にはげむという風流三味の日々を送り、９０才で没したとか。自然の起伏を巧みに生かした庭園は５月のツツジをはじめ季節ごとに美しい。とりわけ１１月のサザンカは多くの人の目を楽しませてくれる。 Jozan Ishikawa, a poet of the early Edo period, built thes villa in 1641 and lived there in seclusion for 31 years. The shisen contains portraits of 36 Chinese poets. The garden, which has a little stream with a white gravel bed running through it, is particularly lovely when the azalea and sasanqua are in bloom. The sound of bamboo on stone coming from the "shishi odoshi", literally deer frightener, is exquisite. It is a popular spot for couples. |
