SANZEN-IN　TEMPLE

天台宗五門席跡の一つ。本堂は単層入母屋造り柿葺（こけらぶき）の往生極楽院で、阿弥陀三尊をまつる。江戸時代の茶人、金森宗和の作と言われる聚碧園と有清園は一面が杉苔でおおわれ、色づいた紅葉とその上に散り行く秋は、物悲しい静寂の世界となる。

This temple was originally built circa 1138 by Saicho, the founder of Tendai Buddhism. It contains therr Important Cultural Properties: the central figure, Amida Buddha; Guze Kannon; and an image of Fudo Myo-o which is over a thousand years old. The two main gardens are carpeted with moss, and the hydrangea garden has a relaxing atmosphere.
