ROKKAKUDOU

聖徳太子が夢のお告げによって建てた寺で、西国三十三所霊場第１８番札所。太子が沐浴した池のそばに建てられた坊舎が池坊で、本尊への供花は華道へと発展した。境内にある六角の石は”へそ石”として有名。

Although this was originally buiot by Prince Shotoku, the existing buildings were erected in 1875. The temple is named for the unusual hexagonal shape of the main hall. Nyoirin-Kannon Bosatsu is the main figure enshrined here. The famous Hesoishi, Iiterally navel stone, is located in front of the hall. To the north of the main hall is the Ikenobo building. This once housed Ono no Imoo, who was ordered by the prince to guard the main figure of the temple. Today this building is the headquarters of the Ikenobo school of Flower Arrangement and features lovely exhibitions for visitors.
