貴船神社
KIFUNE-SHRINE
創建は5世紀初めとも7世紀とも言われる。昔は木船、貴布禰とも記していたとか。水の神として知られ、奥にある竜王の滝は雨乞いの祈りの滝であった。酒造りなど水を使う人々の信仰が厚いが、女性の男性に対する思いを叶えてくれる社としても有名。
神社に向かう石段・・雰囲気があります。
※この神社、恋敵を呪い殺すのも可能らしい・・

Kifune Shrine is
located at North area of Kyoto and well known as a shrine of
God of Water. There is a Kifune River aside
and it was constructed in order to appreciate the benefit of water.
Since this place is difficult and inconvenient to access, Kifune
Shrine of Kyoto is known as hidden sightseeing spot.
In Heian era, when it was national emergency or when a drought and a
long rain continue, the Imperial messenger was surely dispatched to
Kifune Shrine and prayed for finishing these disasters.
But Main place to see is the Rock Garden. Mr.Mirei Shigemori who is the
garden designer of Showa era made with imaging the sacred festival place
which performed the God festival in 1965.
The stones produced from Kifune River are green and a
purple rock, and the number is also treasured few as a garden stone and
a potted-plant stone.
It is the feature that the rockwork of this yard is carried out in all
and the whole yard has a form of a ship which is one of a status of
Water.
Along a slope between Kifune Shrine and River, there
are many typical old Japanese restaurants and hotels as right picture.
Of course it is ok only to take a Japanese Tea for a short break if you
are tired for walking.
You definitely feel the Japanese Nature when you visit this beautiful
place of Kyoto.
