ARASIYAMA

本来は渡月橋西方の山を指すが、古来より景勝地として附近一帯を含め嵐山と呼ぶ。春は桜、夏の夜は鵜飼、秋は紅葉、冬には雪景色と四季を通じて美しい姿を見せる。５月の三船祭の舟遊びは優雅な王朝絵巻そのもの。

This mountain is located south of Togetsukyo Bridge and rises to 375 meters above sea level. The whole area used to be th recreational ground of Emperors and warlords. It is a good place to view the changing seasons, and is especially lovely in spring during cherry blossom season and autumn when the leaves change. A popular attraction in the evenings in July and August is cormorant fishing Ukai. The speed boats that run from Kameoka city to the Togetsukyo bridge are also very popular.
