Growth history/ table:

Average monthly growth: 1.7cm/ 0.7inches

I have always wanted long hair, but as a child I wasn't allowed to wear it much longer than shoulder
because I never wanted to brush it ^^.

1st attempt of growing out hair:
1993, when I entered High School I decided to take control over my hair and grow it.
By avoiding as much appointments at the hair salon as possible
I grew my hair from shoulder to waist by 1996.
Might not seem like much growth but blame that on scissor happy stylists
and my mother being afraid of my hair getting too long.

2nd attempt of growing out hair:
May 2003 at just past shoulder length.
That's when I first decided I wanted my hair a little longer.
I didn't grow very intensively and still got haircuts
but due to less trimming it gained length slowly.

At May 2003: About 60 cm/ 20inches
By May 2004: BSL length with layers
By End 2004: Mid back length where I maintained it until summer 2005

3rd attempt:
June 2005, I saw an Asian girl with nice hip length hair and a similar hair type
and decided to grow mine this long.

In June 2005: About 70cm/ ?
By October 2005: Waist length
BY End 2005: Almost hip, but my hair was very layered
and only the longest streak of hair in the middle touched the top of my hips.
I trimmed about 5 cm to start fresh with less layers.

2006

THE year. My husband who was in the U.S. Military got deployed to Iraq.
I wanted to grow my hair significantly as some type of welcome back surprise.
I had a rough start though. After a horrible salon experience my hair was all damaged.
I also have dyed my hair since I was 12 years old but I intended to stop.
This was not going to be easy. I used to dye my hair red in the past,
then I got blonde highlights and finally I ended up with black dyed hair
in an attempt to color back to my natural color.
It turned out too dark and I had to face growing out the dye and having two toned hair
because my roots were lighter. But for the sake of healthy hair I managed.
When my husband returned spring 2007 my hair was at tailbone length (above butt).
My husband had to get used to it first.
He wanted me to cut it back to the way it was.
But after some adjustment time he really liked it.
I think it was not the hair he didn't like, more the changes
I have made during that long time and all the things he had missed.
My hair was very uneven because I grew it out heavily layered.
Also the ends thinned so I decided to do a little more intense trimming until summer 2007.
After that I continued growing my hair with micro trims of about 5mm or so.
I don't have the hair that grows even and like mentioned have still layers and damage at the bottom,
so I need to be patient and grow with trims.

Emi

Wind

Hi Emi san
Welcome to Long Hair Magazine. I am looking forward to seeing your message on it
because you have been posting many photos on Long Hair Project and hair dos page on Long Hair Magazine.
Your hair type is ideal for long hair, I think.
You use boxwood comb. It is popular for female members of Long Hair Magazine
because its friction with hair is low. Is boxwood comb popular for long haired female in Europe ?
You use camellia oil. It is also popular for them.

I would like to thank you for your hair dos pictures like Medieval style
that you have posted them on February this year.
I guess European females know many kind of vintage hair styles.
We are happy to see that you will contribute pictures of other hair styles, if possible.

> By May 2004: BSL length with layers
Can you tell me the meaning of "BSL" ?

Many Japanese females get troubled with hair dye like you.

I agree with micro trims is good for hair and suitable for females with growing their hair,
because it removes split ends.

It was not lucky for you that your husband did not pleased with your long hair
which is very beautiful, I feel.
But I guess that your wish of growing your hair among absent of your husband
is related to your wish that your husband get back safely from Iraq.

Emi

Dear Emi

If you want me to translate my previous message into English,
I do so it with pleasure.
I'm looking forward to the next report on your splendid long hair.
