Basel Badischer Bahnhof ( BBB ) is a railway station situated in the city of Basel. Whilst the station
is located on Swiss soil, the platforms and part of the entrance hall are extraterritorial, belonging to
Germany, and the station is operated by the German railway company, Deutsche Bahn. A border
crossing is in the passenger tunnel between the tracks and the station hall. The shops in the station
hall, however, are located in Switzerland, and the Swiss franc is used as the official currency there.
The custom's controls are located in a tunnel between the platforms and the station hall. Passport
controls were abolished when Switzerland joined the Schengen Treaty.
Basel SBB is the central railway station in the city of Basel. Trains run by the Swiss's Federal
Railways (SBB) to destinations within Switzerland use this station,as well as Deutsche Bahn's
ICE trains to Germany as well as Zurich and Interlaken and the Cisalpino service across
the Alps to Milan in Italy.
