ＪＲ四国
Shikoku Railway Company, commonly known as JR Shikoku, is one of the constituent
companies
of Japan Railways Group (JR Group). It operates intercity rail services
in the four prefectures
on the island of Shikoku in Japan. JR Shikoku provides intercity transportation
with its limited
express services, connecting major cities on the island of Shikoku with
Okayama of Honshu.
Railway Trip from Matsuyama to Okayama
The Great Seto Bridge, or seto-Ohashi Bridge, is a series of double deck
bridges, which links
the city of Okayama and the island of Shikoku, across a series of five
small islands in Seto Inland
Sea. It takes about 20 minutes by a car or trains to cross the bridge.
(L) The Shiokaze is a limited express train service operated by JR Shikoku,
which runs from Matsuyama to Okayama.
The maximum speed is 120/km.

The limited express train, Shiokaze runs along the Seto Inland Sea.
The railway track runs north to a mountainous region of Shikoku.
Photographs show a smoking booth of Siokaze express train. This unhealthy
booth for smoking will be removed in March 2011.

The Great Seto Bridge is 13.1 km in length. It ranks as the world's longest
two-tiered bridge system.
Built over the period of 1978 and 1988, it is one of the three routes of
the Honshu-Shikoku Bridge
project which connects Honshu and Shikoku island.
Oresund Bridge, Malmo, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark is the sister bridge.
JR四国、喫煙室を廃止
JR四国は2011年3月より四国全域の特急列車にある喫煙ブースを全廃する。授乳スペースや
座席への転換を図る。当然の決定ではある。今まではタバコを「臭い」の問題と考えていたようだが、
タバコは喫煙していない乗客の健康障害をもたらすと改めて認識したこと、さらに世界の趨勢に
逆行してまでも喫煙スペースを確保しておくことが賢明ではないと判断した結果だ。
瀬戸大橋は瀬戸内海をまたいで本州と四国とを結ぶ、１０の橋の総称で、橋梁上部に瀬戸中央
自動車道（高速道路）が走り、橋梁下部にJR瀬戸大橋線が走る。橋梁部の全長は9,368メートル、
高架部分を含めると13,100メートルの長さがある。
Total smoking ban was enforced in all trains of JR Shikoku starting from
March 2011.
This action is to protect a train passenger from the health hazard from
tobacco smoke.
