スウェーデンとデンマークとを結ぶ主要なルートは、 Helsingor とHelsingborg との
間を連絡していたフェリーであった。しかし、2000年にマルメとコペンハーゲンを繋ぐ
大橋とトンネル（ Oresund Connection ）の開通で、鉄道車両をも乗せて運行して
いた重要な役割を終え、今ではローカルなフェリーサービスとして活躍している。
海峡横断に要する時間は20分と短い。

Ferries connecting the Danish and Swedish coast run around the clock, and
it takes only 20 minutes. A ticket of ferry between Helsingor and Helsingborg costs
about 39 Euros by car. Departure: almost every 20 minutes in a daytime.

スウェーデンのハイウェイ走行時の最高速度制限は110キロ/時である。英国とともに
ＥＵ諸国の中では厳格な規制を敷いている。英国は今でも左側通行であるが、
スェーデンでは周辺諸国に合わせ、1967年に左側通行から右側通行に変更した。
デンマークでは休憩スペースが道路脇にあり、ハイウェイに直結しているが、
スウェーデンでは走行路の横にはなく、インターチェンジで一旦、一般道路に出て
利用する。欧州の高速道路はOresund Connection、Great Belt Bridgeなどの
大規模道路施設を除き、すべて通行無料である。

スウェーデン、デンマークを含むスカンディナビア諸国では昼間でもヘッドライトをつけて
走る規則になっている。北欧では冬期は昼間でもうす暗いので、ライトをつけて走った
ことがその始まりであるが、英国では3年以内に、ＥＵ加盟国でも2011年以降の新車に
ついては昼間のヘットライト点灯義務が科せられる模様である。環境面からの反対
意見もあるが、交通事故による死者を5％減らせるとの試算もあり、ＥＵでは運転上の
常識となる日も近いかもしれない。

Sweden's railways run with left-hand traffic, in contrast, Denmark's railways run with right-hand.
Therefore, the driver's seat stands in the center.

Gothenburg, 'Yeutebory', is the second largest city in Sweden. About 500,000
inhabitants live in the municipality (2008). It is located on Sweden'swest coast
at the outlet of Gota river. With over 60,000 students, Gothenburg University is
the largest in Scandinavia.

The Gothenburg tram network consists of 80 km track. It is the largest tram network
in Scandinavia. It has around 200 tram cars (2006), which perform about 2,000 trips
and cover 30,000 km per day.

ヨーテボリ・トラムカーは関係自治体共同出資による Vastrrafik が運営している。
12の主として路面を走る路線があり、ヨーテボリ市民の重要な足となっている。
日本では明治時代に路面電車として走っていた、昔なつかしいトラムが今現役で
活躍している。トラム全体の走行距離は１日、延30,000 キロとされている。
自動車と同じく右側通行である。電車フアンにとっては魅力ある街である。

The Swedish company, Stena line is one of the world's largest ferry, and
operates between Gothenburg, Sweden and Fredrikshavn, Denmark. The time
to cross the sea is 2hours by the express ferry. Others take 3 hours and 15 minutes.


スェーデン、Gothenburg（ヨーテボリ）からデンマーク、ユトランド半島突端のFrederikshavn
（フレデリクスハウン）までフェリーボートで移動した。所要時間はExpress （7:30発）で2時間、
他の3便はすべて3時間15分である。筆者は9:30分発のフェリーを利用したが、船内のラウンジ
やデッキで過ごしていたら退屈することなく目的地に着いた。このフェリーはスェーデンと
デンマークとの間の海上を航行しているため、船内にはワインなどを始め多くの免税品を
販売していた。ただ、空港などの免税店でよく見かける No Tax タバコは売っていなかった。
