Ayutthaya
The city of Ayutthaya was founded in 1350 by King U.Thong referred to as
the
king of Ayutthaya kingdom or Siam. In 1767 the city was destroyed by Burmese
army, and the ruins of the old city now founded Ayutthaya historical park,
which is
recognized internationally as a World Heritage Site. It is estimated that
Ayutthaya
around ca. 1600 had a population of ca. 300,000, and even 1,000,000
around 1700, making it one of the world's largest cities.
The Buddhist statues rose into the light from the world of a real darkness. It
was so heavenly divine.

ワット・チャイ・ワッタナラーム
アユタヤはバンコックの北87ｌキロに位置する古代都市で、チャオプラヤー川とその支流に
囲まれた古代都市である。ウートン(U Thong)王により1350年に建設され、それから400年
あまりにわたり東南アジアの文化の中心として栄華を極めた。絶頂期にはシャム（タイ）の
首都となり、領土はカンボジアからビルマまで拡大した。しかし度重なるビルマ軍の攻撃を
受け、1767年には多くの寺院が破壊された。タイの古代遺跡のある町として、1991年に
世界遺産に登録されている

Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a Buddhist temple in the city of Ayutthaya, Thailand.
It locates on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, outside Ayutthaya
Island.
This wat is one of Ayutthaya's most beautiful temples and a major tourist
attraction.
アユタヤの遺跡は４ヶ所ほどが午後９時頃までの時間帯にライトアップされる。この間、
外部からの見学、撮影は自由だが内部に立ち入ることは通常,出来ない。幸い、筆者は
特別の許可を得て個人的にワット・チャイ・ワッタナラームの内部を夜遅く探訪すること
が出来た。真っ暗の中に浮き出る寺院や仏像のシェルエットは幻想的で、神々しく、
この世のものとはとても思えないものであり、本当に得難い体験であった。
