Shen Nung is important cultural hero of China with far more humanistic character than Confucian Legend personality like Yellow Emperor, (some older legend before influenced from Euhemerism, he was depicted as Bull God.) In this Legend, he died for poison because he tested too many types of medicinal herbs risking and sacrificing his life.(Above)

Though Emperor Yao was called Saint Emperor and revered by later Confucians, before their teaching turned to dominant in China, Great Poet Qu Yuan (http://www.chinapage.com/quyuan1.html) blamed him persecuting Gun (http://www.pantheon.org/articles/g/gun.html), father of Da-Yu (http://www.pantheon.org/articles/d/da-yu.html) for failing riparian work. Qu Yuan sympathized to his role and asked though Yao well knew Gun could not succeed the work, why Yao didn't blame himself? In other legend, Gun was depicted as just but too upright man as Prometheus (or, as Gu Yuan himself, and helped directly populace by stealing Magical Soil thus punished. In many Chinese Legend, West Queen Mother was visited Several Times by legendary kings. In Older Text, she showed more monsterous appearance, but this form was reformed in "more sophisticated" Taoists absorbed her worship. (Left Dish)

In Legend, Ten Suns of Heaven appeared as mischievous sons of Heaven, and many people died for their heat and mischieves. So Sky Archer came and killed Nine of Ten by his arrows, though Celestial Emperor ordered him to stop his children evil deeds, he angered to Shen-Yi and punished him by exiling forever to Surface World and removing his immortality. Though the hero once given Pill of Immortality by Xi Wang-mu (See below) It was stolen by his wife, she turned into Frog of Moon for that treachery.
