レインボーブリッジ 天国の入り口の手前に”レインボーブリッジ”と呼ばれる場所がある。 人に愛された動物たちが生を終えると、その場所に行く。 そこには皆が一緒に駆け回って、遊ぶことのできる、緑の野原と丘がある。 食べ物も水も豊かで、日光のあふれる暖かな場所で、彼らは気持ちよく暮らせる。 病気の子はいやされ、年老いた子は若返り、健康で元気いっぱいになり、 傷ついた子、手足を失っていた子は、もとの通りの姿に戻り元気になる。 そう、私たちが夢で覚えているのと同じ姿になるのだ。 彼らは、本当に幸せで満足している・・・・ただ一つのことを除けば 彼らは、地上に残してきた”特別な人”に会いたいのだ。 ・・・彼らは一緒に駆け回り遊んでいる。 するとある日、その中の一匹がふと遊ぶのをやめ、遠くを見つめる日がくる。 彼の明るい目は一点に向けられ、彼の体はふるえ始める。 突然、彼は仲間から抜け出し、緑の草の上を飛ぶように駆けてゆく。 速く・・どんどん速く。 彼はあなたを見つける。そして、あなたとあなたの友達はとうとう会うことができる。 あなたたちはかたく抱き合い、もう二度と離れることはない。 喜びのキスがあなたの顔に雨と降り、あなたの手は愛する彼の頭を再びやさしくなでる。 長い間見ていなかったが決して忘れたことのなかった、 信頼しきった彼の目の中を、あなたは再びのぞき込む。 そしてあなたたちは、連れだって一緒にレインボーブリッジを渡るのだ。 *作者不明*

Rainbow Bridge Poem Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.
