第2戦は開幕戦ほどのフェラーリの優位性はなかったが、M・シューマッハがBSソフトタイヤを生かして勝った。モントーヤは途中まで食い下がったが、Miのソフトタイヤがスティント後半にタレることで勝機を失った。このことを理解するために、今回は第2・第3スティントのタイヤ別平均ラップタイムと、優勝争いする二人のインラップ・アウトラップも詳しく見る。 |

ミヒャエルとルーベンスで明暗の3日間 金曜朝にM・シューマッハがバリチェロに1秒、ライバルたちに1.5秒の差をつけた。暑い午後にフェラーリはタイムが伸びなかったが、レースシミュレーションを実施していたものとみられる。なぜなら日曜のタイムと変わらなかったからだ。全体的に見て、M・シューマッハは3日間をリードしたと言える。これに対し、バリチェロはハードタイヤを選んだことでチームメイトを常に下回った。バリチェロは皆と同じ3ストップ戦略だったことから、ハードタイヤのメリットを生かしたとは言えなかった。バリチェロはいまだにF2004に慣れていないのか、違うタイヤに活路を見出そうとしたが失敗に終わり、表彰台も逃すことになってしまった。 ルノー第一予選でフェラーリ惑わす? フェラーリは予選で9-10周の燃料しか積まなかった。1回目の予選でルノーが意味不明の空タンクで1-2位のタイムを出したことで、フェラーリは惑わされたかもしれない。だが3日間の流れから見ると、ルノーの第一予選は突出しすぎていた。アロンソは最終予選でスピンアウトしたが、空タンクから14周の燃料を積んで調子が狂ったのかもしれない。 追い込まれたマクラーレン マクラーレンは金曜午後に軽い燃料でライコネンがトップタイムを記録した。土曜の第一予選でも同じようなことをした。前の週にメルセデスがパフォーマンスの悪さに怒り、ロン・デニスをシュツットガルトの本社に呼びつけ、3時間も待たせた挙句、キャンセルしたという。マクラーレンは少しでも目立つことをせざるを得ない事態に追い込まれている。 佐藤はバトンとのタイム差がプラクティスで1秒あったが、土曜の第一予選で0.4秒に縮めた。最終予選のセクター2までで0.2秒に迫った。佐藤は走りこんでタイムを上げるスロースターターのタイプだが、1エンジンでセーブすることが裏目になっていることはタイムの上がり具合で示された。 |

激しかった1-2周目の順位変動 スタート1周目の各地点での順位と、2-5周目の順位の変遷を示した。最も乱高下したのがウェバーだった。ウェバーは2位からスタートで14位に落ちたが、1周目の終わりまでに9位まで挽回した。だが3周目にR・シューマッハと接触し、タイヤをパンクさせて20位に落ちた。 予選でスピンして最後方にいたアロンソと佐藤は序盤で対照的な結果になった。アロンソはスタートで13位まで上がったが、第一コーナー手前でフィジケラに詰まり、無理せずに15位で通過した。そこから1周目の終わりまでに5台を追い抜いて10位に上がった。R・シューマッハとウェバーの接触で4周目に8位入賞圏内まで上がった。 一方、佐藤も1周目の終わりまでに8台を追い抜いてアロンソの後ろの11位まで上がった。だが、にわか雨の降った2周目に15位にダウンした。さらに4周目にもスピンして18位とグリッド位置近くまで落ちてしまった。その後挽回していくのだが、4周目にアロンソに21秒差をつけられたことが後々で響いた。 2周目の雨はバリチェロの順位を2つ下げることになった。ここで踏ん張ったのがM・シューマッハで、モントーヤに真後ろに付かれながらも1位を守りきった。 1-2周目に抜きつ抜かれつの好バトルを演じたのがバトンとトゥルーリだった。 1周目に大きくダウンしたトヨタとフィジケラ 今回も1-2周目に情けなかったのがトヨタの二人とフィジケラだ。ダ・マッタはスタートで7位まで上がりながら、ターン4からターン6までの間に一気に14位までダウンしてしまった。パニスも11位に上がりながら、ターン4でハイドフェルドに追突され、19位に落ちた。 フィジケラはスタートこそまずまずだったものの、ターン1・2の競り合いで3台にパスされてしまった。ターン4でまた3台にパスされた。雨の2周目にも3つ順位を落とした。これほど彼らしくない走りをしているのは、今年のマシンを乗りこなせていないからだろう。 |

Miはピットアウト後に速いが、後半のタレもきつい タイヤ別の第2・第3スティントの平均ラップタイムを見る。BSはフェラーリの2台を平均した。Miはモントーヤ、クルサード、トゥルーリ、バトンの4台を平均した。 Miはアウトラップ後の2周目に爆発的なタイムを出した。3-6周目までもMiが速かった。これまで言われていたMiのドロップオフは見られず、むしろBSが劣った。 ところが9-13周目になるとBSが尻上がりにタイムアップした。Miは燃料が軽くなってもそれほどタイムアップできなかった。タレについてはBSが上と思われる。 |

アロンソの2ストップへの変更は失敗 アロンソは変則的な2ストップを取ったが、失敗に終わった。第3スティントが32周の超ロングランだったが、タイヤに優しいマシンと走りに自信があったのだろう。だが、接戦だったクルサードに遠く離されて、後ろから佐藤に迫られることになった。通常の3ストップで行けば、5位トゥルーリも食えた可能性があった。 アロンソの第3スティントは前半が1分38秒台という遅さだった。燃料の影響をもろに食らい、ずるずると後退する原因になってしまった。後半も1分37秒台までしか上がっていなかった。32周のロングランでタイヤがタレなかったことは特筆だが、タイムの遅さは致命的だった。 BARはルノーとマクラーレンを超えたのか また、バトンの初表彰台だが、BARがルノーやマクラーレンより速かったことがラップタイムでわかる。こうなってくると、BARは勢いをつけてさらに上の2つに戦いを挑んでいいだろう。いまが攻めどきだ。 佐藤は2ストップ後のアウトラップで燃料が重かったのにバトンよりも速かった。佐藤は速さを持っている。だがラップタイムの遷移を見ると波がある。安定して速いタイムを出し続けることが課題ともいえる。 |
Alonso

モントーヤの敗因はタイヤのタレ M・シューマッハとモントーヤの戦いで明暗を分けたのは、ピットイン前後のタイムだった。上の表のインラップ1周前の3回合計ではM・シューマッハが1.281秒速かった。インラップの3回合計では、M・シューマッハが実に4.375秒も速かった。これらの6周で5.656秒の差が出てしまった。これはミシュランが限界に来ていたことを思わせる。 一方、アウトラップとその次の周ではモントーヤが速かった。アウトラップでは3回合計でモントーヤが1.742秒速かった。その次の周では、2回目まででモントーヤが2.428秒速かった。3回目はモントーヤがバリチェロに詰まったため、爆発的なタイムが出せなかった。もし詰まらなかったら、インラップで失った分を取り戻して余りあった。モントーヤがバリチェロにブロックされた後、ミヒャエル追撃をやめて2位確保にしたのもうなずける。 しかし、モントーヤがアウトラップの優位性を生かすには、途中の差をもっと詰めていなければならなかった。だが今回のミシュランタイヤでは、スティント後半のタレについてBSに劣った。 |
