Greg Stafford comment about Immortality and Longevity of Vingkotling Kings
http://glorantha.kondalski.org/g9index/1633.html

Me:
<<For example, from Vingkot to Heort, there are only seven generations. (Enclosure) But Ivarne was imprisoned in the Ice Tomb over 100 Generations (Storm Tribe p.240)>>

Greg Stafford:
Of course these are both poetic truths, and neither is quite what is means to living people.

Me:
<<Perhaps rationally or logically, royal blood maintained long its divinity and kings lived longer than their subjects and populace in Darkness.>>

Greg Stafford:
Yes, and their reigns get shorter and shorter. There might be seven generations of the superhuman heroes, but Orlanth and many of his Thunderbrothers go on and on. And those poor ordinary people get diminished even faster, having a hundred generation of ordinary people in the time that one superhuman demigod ruled.

Part of the irony is that these mythic dynastics may have lived longer than ordinary humans but even they, one and all, went down to Death. They ended up on the mortal side.

Original Nine Tribes of Vingkotling:
From Jeff Richard's "The Saga of Vingkotling" in Enclosure #1
and Stephen Martin's "Daughters of Vingkot" in Enclosure #2

(But Greg tend to refuse dividing Divinity from Mortality in Gods Age
against some of Jeff Richard's Setting, as the divine clans in Barbarian Adventures,
it might be contradict to future "official" setting, maybe this condition is similar to
the difference of German Mythology
and Irish Mythology about the One Arm God....while Tyr lost his
right hand and could not recover it...Nuada enthroned again with his Silver Arm....

In Storm Age, Vingkotling (and Orlanthi, or Storm Tribe?) conquered this world....

There is other groups of Orlanthi that are descendants of Orlanth, but not from On Jorri
and Vingkot, like Talastari (Line of Valarastans (Andini?: TR) later aggressively opposed
Heortlings with their leader Loko Moko (Lokamayadon) and Bright Empire)
and Haranding (line of Drorgalar, another son of
Orlanth, Durevings?) (But some of Gloranthaphiles denied this opinion.)

SW = Summer Wife, WW=Winter Wife, the daughters of Tada

Storm Age before Stormfall

Name Founder(s) Domain Important Personalities Note Destiny
Kodigvari
Summer
Kodig, the eldest son of Vingkot and SW

(His daughters are Arfritha and Deleen)
Modern Esrolia
(Kethaela)
Rastagar the Last King, Jardfor and Kogall (Hidden Kings)

King Broyan?
High Kingship Tribe, only from this tribe of Eldest Son of Vingkot After Disastrous Sword and Helm War, women uprose and banished Hidden Kings and followers, they began to follow only Old Earth Rites before Storm Gods emerged, as Esrolvuli. Even after Unity Battle, they followed Only Old One, not Heort. Liornvulli is from them (Jeff Richard).
Lastralgortelli
Winter
Janard, a son of Vingkot and WW Oslir Valley
(Sylila?)
- Most Valiant and Violent Destroyed by Dara Happan Empire (Jeff Richard thinks they destroyed by E. Urvairinus, but Peter Metcalph has another idea), some of Star Tribes are from this tribe.
Koroltes
Summer
Korol Kandoros, a son of Vingkot and SW Doriziland?(BCG): Modern Grazeland
(Sevid?) Its Center was in Korolstead (Smoking Ruin Today)
Heort's Winter Deer clan Great Lawspeakers?
See Hero Wars 1st Narrators Book (A Scenario for Koroltes)
Forosilvulli was from them. As King Heort descent from them, it might be the holiest tribe of Vingkotling.
Jorganostelli
Winter
Jorganos Archer, a son of Vingkot and WW Upper Oslir (Sevid: Modern Black Horse County?) Jarani the Whitehair (Lawstaff) Great Archers? Devastated by the War against Harandings for Arrowmound, Stravuli was from this tribe.

<<I have a very personal reason to be curious about the fate of Jorganos the
Archer. Apparently his people formed a plethora of tribes, two of which
became prominent in Heort's time. The Jaranings appear to be extinct, at
least in Dragon Pass, although we know little about the other side of the
Skyreach range.
(Joerg Baumgartner)>>
Berenethtelli
Winter
Beren(eth) the Rider and Redaylda, a daughter of Vingkot and WW Modern Upper Saird (Reladivela: Harald Smith) Venef the Stallion and other line of Rastalulf, Harmast

Arlastor?(BCG)
From North, Hyalorian? Red Headed Women? (Vingan?) Hero Beren? and his horse Chakandar? (Chakandar Hills) I am not sure about Beren (husband of Redaylda?) and Beren"neth"....? See also Ulaninstead, maybe the two brother-in-laws are also brother-in-arms, or rivals? (all derived from DPG)

Later it became most Heroic Tribe among Heortling, you know Harmast.
Orgorvaltes
Summer
Orgorvale, a daughter of Vingkot and SW and Ulanin the Rider Quivin Land
(Kerofinela)
Ulanin the Rider (Cattle Raid? See "Red Cow", greatbull Gochbadan and Ulanin) (DPG)

Salvi the Good? (Descendant of Bran, see below) (DPG)
From East, Horse Lovers? (Elmali?)
(I don't know why Heort was born in Orgovaltes Land, though he is a Koroltes....perhaps that dangerous time between uzland and devastated Chaos land, only the root of Quivin was relatively safe?)(DPG)

Their Domain perhaps Included Mystical Hill of Orlanth Victorious, and Old Wind Temple. Maybe they became the core of Orlanth Kingdom and Youf in 2nd Age. (See below)..
Infithetelli
Winter
Infithe, a daughter of Vingkot and WW, Porscriptor the Cannibal Modern Northern Tarsh
(New Land?)
- Savage and Furious, but loyal? -
Vestantes
Summer
Vestene, a daughter of Vingkot and SW, Goralf Brown Modern Southern Aggar
Tenostere Fightin'est Woman Axe People?
Enemy of Aldryami?
Later, this tribe was destroyed by Highking Alakoring for their support to EWF, and reformed into Tarkarling.
Penentelli
Winter
Penene, a daughter of Vingkot and WW, and Kastwall the Five Modern North Aggar Rastazar
(BCG)
Most Emotional? Five Sons In Gbaji War, they were almost all wiped out by Arkat Army, maybe they are strong converters to Lokamayadon or some sects of Bright Empire, or simply Troll enemy.

New Tribes during Storm Age and Great Darkness
Name Founder(s) Domain Important Personalities Note Destiny
Stravuli
Star
Stravul the Lean Dinaros(BCG)
Around Grizzly Peak?

Later they retreated beyond Dragonspine, against Liornvuli
Stravul and Koffer (Koffer Hills) (DPG) From Jorganostelli, remnants of Arrowmound War Grizzly Peak (there Vingkot killed Grizzly), the Center of High Kingship and Earldoms might exist here? After Dawn, its power diminished in the events of Stampede. Its remnant fled to the domain of Orgovaltes.

(Formerly, sowford was boundary between Two Tribes (DPG))
Liornvulli
Star
Liorn the Young, and Deleen, Kodig's daughter Island Tribe (Kordros Island), Upper Oslir See Silver and Dawn Age section From Lastralgortelli (DPG), or Kodigvari (Jeff Richard)
Aka Island Tribe, Kordros Isle, descent from Lastralgortelli (but its foundress Deleen was from Kodigvari))
See Boarford, Stampede (p.30), Kaufonstead, Kordros Island
Forosilvulli
Star
Forosil the Ferocious, and Ornore, Korol's Daughter Holay?
Black Eel River (BCG)
- From Koroltes Maybe from them, the tradition of Woman Queen began.
Orvantes
Star
- Volsaxi Land and North Stormwalk Mountains Orlgar?
(See also Sedenorvuli)

Bacofi of modern Volsaxar (See Northvale) (DPG)
- I don't know why they only appeared in Great Darkness among Vingkotling and later disappeared from list of Heortling Tribes by Greg's setting. Or they are related to Sedenorvulli?

See Hartside (Hero Orlgar of Dawn Age), Karstanstead (Karstan Nine-with-One), Ramsleap (Urothing Clan), Volsaxiland (Hero Volsax, Nightjumpers)

<<The Northvale description makes it possible that the Orvantes were a group
of Silver Age survivors settling there after leaving some shelter with
other, more powerful groups.
(Joerg Baumgartner)>>

Garanvulli
(Gansavulli?)
Star
Garan and Serias Modern Hendriki Land, near Troll wood? Syphon River?
(Old Land?)
King Orvis (Before Darkness?), Jan Ironclad (Dawn Age) From Dureving? See Janfjord (Jan), Orvistula (Orvis)(DPG)
Politically traded with Ezkankekko for Esrolvuli?
Sedenorvulli Sedenor Near of Shadow Plateau?
(Old Land?)
Bran? (Joerg Baumgartner) From Dureving? Related with Orvantes? See below. I think maybe they are perfectly not from Vingkotling....politically traded with Ezkankekko for Esrolvuli?

<<Bran may as well have been descended from the Sedenorvuli, who lived
"north of Shadow Plateau". Their lands may have included Wild Temple in
Beast Valley (which wasn't called that before the Remakers' experiments).(Joerg Baumgartner)
>>

Last Day of Heort and Orlanth's Secret Seventh Gate
From Thunder Rebels, Only thousands?

Joerg Baumgartner's opinion about the domain and size of Tribe.

Eleven Tribes of Heortling
Storm Tribe, p.137

Silver Age and Dawn
<<Heort was born after the Sword and Helm Saga events, when most of the Vingkotling world already was shattered, and life was a bitter fight for survival. It is possible that Darndrev's deer clan had gone over to the Orgorvaltes, who seem to have survived in a comparatively secure position. However, the Koroltes survived hardly in a weaker condition.(Joerg Baumgartner)>>

Name Founder(s) Domain Important Personalities Note Destiny
Koroltes
Summer
Korol Kandoros, a son of Vingkot and SW Modern Grazeland
(Korolstead?)

Its Center was at Korolstead (Smoking Ruin Today: DPG)
Heort's Winter Deer clan Great Lawspeakers?
See Hero Wars 1st Narrators Book (A Scenario for Koroltes)
Forosilvulli was from them. As Heort descent from them, it might be the holiest tribe of Vingkotling.
Berenethtelli
Winter
Beren(eth) the Rider and Redaylda, a daughter of Vingkot and WW Modern Upper Saird
(Berenstead?)
Maybe Rastalulf's Yinkstead is also center of power.
Venef the Stallion and other line of Rastalulf

Arlastor?(BCG)
From North, Hyalorian? Red Headed Women? (Vingan?) Later it became most Heroic Tribe among Heortling, you know Harmast. But Lokamayadon and Palangio Iron Vrok most oppressed this tribe, I think.

<<The Beren subcult of Elmal rather than Beren the husband for Charandar, I
suppose.

(not that there necessarily must have been a difference in the Godtime)

Berenneth the Rider settled near the old Hyaloring lands in Saird. His
tribe survived there until the breaking of the Second Council, when the
Talastari under Lokamayadon systematically eradicated his people and lands,
forcing the survivors to flee south into Heortland.
(Joerg Baumgartner)>>
Orgorvaltes
Summer
Orgorvale, a daughter of Vingkot and SW and Ulanin the Rider Quivin Land
(Ulaninstead: DPG)
Bran Great Beard? (Ancestor of Salvi the Good), Forthan (Forthanland), Tantrell (Tantrell Hills)

See Starfire Ridge (Illavan Clan, "Argrath" fled from here), Sacred Top? (Amilanth and Jeromar?), Tantrell Hills, Two Ridge Fort (their Center of  Power?), Ulaninstead (DPG)

Salvi of Locaem? (I am not sure Bran was Orgovaltes, see above about heortling boundary)
(DPG)

From East, Horse Lovers? (Elmali?) Their Domain perhaps included Mystical Hill of Orlanth Victorious, and Old and "New" Wind Temple. Maybe they became the core of Orlanth Kingdom and Youf in 2nd Age.

<<Two Ridge may have grown in importance after the Dawn, but at the Dawn the
Orgorvaltes survived in Ulaninstead, near modern Wilmskirk..
(Joerg Baumgartner)>>

Infithetelli
Winter
Infithe, a daughter of Vingkot and WW, Porscriptor the Cannibal Modern Northern Tarsh
(Deksarshall?)
- Savage and Furious, but loyal? -
Vestantes
Summer
Vestene, a daughter of Vingkot and SW, Goralf Brown Modern Southern Aggar
(Goralfstead?)
Tenostere Fightin'est Woman? Axe People?
Enemy of Aldryami?
Later, this tribe was destroyed by Highking Alakoring for their support to EWF, and reformed into Tarkarling.
Penentelli
Winter
Penene, a daughter of Vingkot and WW, and Kastwall the Five Modern North Aggar
(Penentelada?)
Rastazar
(BCG)
Most Emotional? Five Sons In Gbaji War, they were almost all wiped out by Arkat Army, maybe they are strong converter to Lokamayadon or some sects of Bright Empire, or simply Troll enemy.
Stravuli Stravul? Around Grizzly Peak?
(Iliastead, but it induces anger of Firstblood Tribe people for unknown reason. They call this place Stravulstead: DPG)
(King Sarlanth and Kalanth the Plow Priest (DPG)

Leikan, Harandangian?
(BCG)

Firstblood Tribe (Ilaro and its Dynasty: Some says that they also have blood of Alakoring...) (DPG)
From Jorganostelli, remnants of Arrowmound War Grizzly Peak (there Vingkot killed Grizzley and Heort was born), the Center of High Kingship and Earldoms might exist here?
Liornvulli Liorn the Young, and Deleen, Kodig's daughter Island Tribe...Kordros Island? Upper Oslir
(Karfonstead: DPG)
King Dargos and Queen Durlindi (Stampede of Dawn Age: DPG) From Lastralgortelli (DPG) or Kodigvari (Jeff Richard) After Dawn, the King of Stravuli kidnapped the wife of Liornvuli (like Paris did to Helene), so it caused the War of Stampede (See DPG p.30), Liornvuli took most of Stravuli Land and met doom of Gbaji War and Arkat.
Forosilvulli Forosil the Ferocious, and Ornore, Korol's Daughter Holay?
(Uraldastead?)
- From Koroltes Maybe from them, the tradition of Woman Queen began.
Garanvulli Garan and Serias Modern Hendriki Land, near Troll wood?
(Iliabervor?)
King Orvis (before Darkness), Jan Ironclad From Dureving? See Janfjord (Jan), Orvistula (Orvis) (DPG)
Politically traded with Ezkankekko for Esrolvuli?

<<The original Heortlanders of Vingkotling times. Their southern neighbors
may have been Pelaskites or Durevings who later were adopted by the
Ingareens of God Forgot.
(Joerg Baumgartner)>>

Sedenorvulli Sedenor Near of Shadow Plateau?
(Sedenorshill?)
Volsax and Dreven? (Dawn Age: See Dreven Vale) Karstan?(DPG) From Dureving? Related to Orvantes? I think maybe they are perfectly not from Vingkotling....politically traded with Ezkankekko for Esrolvuli?

<<The Sedenorvuli lived north of Shadow Plateau, on Sedenorshill (not on any
map) which was known for dolmen. This makes it likely that they occupied
Beast Valley before the Remakers changed that place.
(Joerg Baumgartner)>>

Most of them disbanded or reformed on the cataclysm of Gbaji War....

<<As heortling is known for half-farming and half-nomadic, maybe boundary is
not so distinct as I assume, (in one of my KODP games, when Colymer
ambassador came, I paid much more and joined Colymer Tribe as an enclave,
so maybe heortling tribes were mapped as patchworks, not distinct
regions....>>

<<Unless there were very binding reasons, these patchworks may have
re-formed via treaties etc. to grow into more coherent parts over time.

On the other hand, I come from a land which historically has been just
such a patchwork of lands, and in cases where a formerly dominant tribe
was pushed out of large parts of their territory they may have held on to
a few magically defended places.
(Joerg Baumgartner).>>
